Job Title: AVP, Manager Investigation, FC GTT
Purpose of the role
- The Global Trade and Wholesale Lending Investigations Team (GTT), senior investigation manager is an Investigations role supporting Global CMB/GB in GTRF and Wholesale lending related money laundering and fraud related investigations. The role is a hybrid of both Individual Contributor and leadership responsibilities. The senior Investigation manager will investigate the activity of GTRF customers for identifying or detecting unusual or anomalous behavior related to AML and Fraud. The primary responsibility of the senior Investigation manager will be to undertake in-depth investigation of the escalated alerts (from FCR Ops) generated by GTRF Customer Surveillance / Quantexa and FC-UAR referrals to identify potential financial crime risk (FCR) with focus on GTRF and wholesale lending related money laundering and fraud risks. The core responsibilities of the senior Investigation manager will also include training, mentoring, coaching other team members including, performing initial quality checks over the output of investigation managers and supporting the Team Lead in managing the team.
In This Role, You Will
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)
- The Investigation manager will be primarily responsible for their own pipeline of escalated cases. In addition, they will work closely with other investigation managers to provide training and mentoring for other junior staff.
- Once the investigation of a case is complete, investigation managers would document their findings/observations and recommendations (for further investigation or case closure), prepare an interim investigation report, attach all relevant supporting information in case management system and take it through the senior investigations managers for their preliminary quality check, before transferring the case to a senior investigator at GTT onshore (HK). The investigation managers will be required to consider all aspects of financial crime risk (with specific focus on trade and wholesale lending fraud and money laundering) and coordinate with relevant internal stakeholders.
- The role requires strong GTRF, commercial banking, wholesale lending knowledge and excellent communication skills for interaction with various stakeholders including CMB/GGB Line of Business Relationship Managers (RMs), Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR), Loan Management unit (LMU), Risk stewards, FCC etc
Key Responsibilities
- The role holder will be a member of a multi skilled team responsible for the in-depth investigation of CMB and GB cases generated by Trade Fraud and Trade Based Money Laundering post TM systems (e.g. Quantexa) and unusual activity reports (FC-UARs).
- Perform detailed analysis of the customer relationship and review the event / scenario escalated to identify any anomalies/risk indicators related to Money Laundering and Fraud.
- Prepare interim investigation reports of adequate quality and ensuring that observations and recommendations are supported with clear rationale and evidence.
- Promptly escalate any critical anomalies / risk indicators for high exposure cases to senior investigation managers / GTT Onshore (HK) at an early stage.
- Work independently to complete assigned tasks within the established process SLAs while ensuring that productivity and quality levels are achieved as per the standards agreed for the process.
- All data requirements (regular MI and ad hoc process information) are accurately updated in a timely manner.
- Issues / problems are effectively investigated and resolved or are appropriately referred with recommendations to senior investigation managers.
- Arrive at logical investigation findings after analyzing vast volume of information and discuss such with stakeholders in both Business and Risk in a timely manner for appropriate inputs and risk mitigating actions.
- Prepare and submit clear, concise, factual, unbiased, thorough and timely interim investigation reports.
- Working closely with CMB and GB LOBs, the role holder will act as a Subject Matter Expert in corporate lending fraud and / or Trade Based Fraud and ML.
- Identify trade and lending fraud typologies based on the investigations performed and to provide improvement in scenarios that help detect early frauds.
- Liaising, where necessary, with other internal stakeholders such as CMB/GB, GTRF, BFCR, Risk stewards, FCC etc.
- Demonstrate current knowledge of GTRF and Lending products, systems, policies and procedures as well as FCC policies and procedures so that daily processes are continually implemented in a defect free environment.
- Ensure that all events / cases are actioned within the stipulated SLA
To Be Successful You Will
Functional Knowledge
- Graduate / Post- Graduate in Business Management, Economics, Commerce, Technology, Mathematics or equivalent is a must
- Additional qualifications any certifications on Compliance / AML / Fraud related would be an added advantage
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant fields as detailed in below section.
