Organizational Overview

Synchrony's Information Security Metrics team's mission is to strengthen the Board/Operational metrics and reporting capabilities by enabling leadership and stakeholders with better visibility into the health and risk of our Information Security program, thus driving enhanced decision making and identify early warnings.

Role Summary/Purpose

We are seeking a seasoned and proactive individual contributor with over 5+ years of strong hands-on technical expertise in Ab Initio ETL development and Tableau. This position reports into VP, Information Security Metrics and the role demand strong technical depth, ownership of delivery, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable, high-performance data solutions and interactive dashboards that drive strategic insights and decision-making.The incumbent will be responsible for the execution of end-to-end information security metrics development, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data flow with visual accuracy and bringing a problem-solving mindset to every challenge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Engineering & ETL Development
  • Create and maintain complex data integration workflows using the Ab Initio suite of tools, including GDE (Graphical Development Environment)
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust Ab Initio ETL workflows to process large, complex datasets.
  • Optimize ETL jobs for performance, scalability, and data quality, implementing best practices.
  • Collaborate with data architects to ensure alignment with enterprise data models and governance.
  • Automate data ingestion, transformation, and validation processes to improve operational efficiency.
  • Drive data quality, lineage, and governance initiatives across reporting and integration layers.
  • Dashboard Design & Visualization
  • Develop and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards that provide actionable insights or stakeholders.
  • Translate KPIs, metrics, and use cases into visually intuitive and scalable Tableau designs.
  • Implement advanced Tableau features such as LOD expressions, parameters, and calculated fields.
  • Ensure dashboards adhere to data privacy and security policies, including role-based access controls.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Delivery
  • Act as a technical leader in project delivery, coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks, improve data accuracy, and enhance visualization usability.
  • Communicate technical solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Information Security & Compliance (Desirable)
  • Support information security analytics initiatives and dashboards on threats and compliance posture.
  • Demonstrate awareness of data privacy standards (GDPR, CCPA) and compliance frameworks (NIST, PCI, CRI).

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering, BI development, analytics delivery or in lieu of a degree 6+ years of professional experience required.
  • Ab Initio ETL: Must have minimum 2 years hand-on development experience in Ab Initio with advanced experience with graphs, plans, metadata, and performance optimization.
  • Tableau: Expertise in Tableau development, including advanced visualizations, dashboard performance optimization, and user-centric design, performance tuning, and publishing best practices.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as finance, information security.
  • Knowledge of Python or shell scripting for automation and validation.
  • Tableau certification (Desktop Certified Professional or equivalent) is a plus.
  • SQL: Strong SQL proficiency and experience with large-scale RDBMS (e.g., Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server ) with the ability to write complex queries and optimize performance.
  • Version Control & Automation: Experience with Git and CI/CD for ETL deployments.
  • Performance & Monitoring: Skilled in diagnosing bottlenecks and optimizing dashboards.

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering, BI development, analytics delivery or in lieu of a degree 6+ years of professional experience required.

Work Timings: 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM IST

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
