Job Description

Role: Avionics Engineer

Function: Engineering

Location: US/Bengaluru

Type: Full-time

Industry: aviation & aerospace

About Company

A venture-backed startup founded in 2023, revolutionizing the space component supply chain. The company delivers low-cost, reliable spacecraft components for LEO satellites.

They modernize how the space industry accesses critical ADCS components like reaction wheels, star trackers, and torque rods. The dynamic seed-stage team of 6 engineers helps satellite manufacturers reduce lead times and costs.

With operations in both the US and Bengaluru, the company focuses on making high-quality space components more accessible.

Position Overview

You will architect and build complete flight systems from scratch for spacecraft avionics at a seed-stage space startup. You'll design, implement, integrate, and validate software that runs on spacecraft avionics, including ADCS components, onboard computers, power systems, and communication interfaces. This rare opportunity lets you work on spacecraft subsystems and CubeSat platforms while leading the development of mission-critical flight software.

Role & Responsibilities

You architect and develop flight software for spacecraft avionics including ADCS components and onboard computers

You define avionics architecture and lead integration of radiation-tolerant electronics for spacecraft systems

You select and integrate COTS radiation-tolerant components for power, compute, and data handling subsystems

You lead development of flight and ground software including telemetry, real-time control, and fault management

You design electrical power systems (EPS), data bus architecture, and flight harnessing for spacecraft

You build and operate flat-sat HIL testbed for integration and validation of flight systems

You conduct FMEA and reliability analyses and participate in environmental qualification testing (thermal, vibration, vacuum)

Must Have Criteria

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

3+ years of experience developing avionics or flight software for spacecraft or high-reliability systems

Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems development

Experience with radiation-hardened processors and electronics (Microchip, Xilinx, or similar)

Hands-on experience with spacecraft bus protocols (CAN, SpaceWire, RS-422)

Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integration experience for aerospace systems

Knowledge of EMI/EMC and power distribution design principles for spacecraft

Nice to Have

Aerospace or defense industry background with flight systems development experience

Experience with Rust programming language and Python for scripting and testing

Background in spacecraft autonomy frameworks or fault-tolerant flight software development

Experience with space-rated EPS or battery management systems

Previous experience in startup or fast-paced R&D environment

What We Offer

Opportunity to architect complete flight systems from scratch at a seed-stage space startup

Work with cutting-edge spacecraft ADCS components and LEO satellite technology

Collaborative environment with experienced engineers from high-volume scaleups

Global exposure with operations spanning US and India manufacturing

Direct impact on revolutionizing the space component supply chain
