Overview

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Automotive Test Case Design & Requirements Analysis Engineer with strong expertise in positive and negative test case design, functional safety (ISO 26262), and automotive diagnostics (UDS/OBD). The ideal candidate should be skilled in interpreting requirements, creating robust test scenarios, ensuring ASPICE compliance, and maintaining complete traceability. Hands-on experience with IBM DOORS and diagnostic tools is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test Case Design (Positive & Negative Testing)
  • Develop detailed positive and negative test cases based on system, software, and safety requirements.
  • Translate high-level requirements into executable test scenarios with focus on edge cases, boundary conditions, and fault behavior.
  • Ensure test cases comply with internal processes, V-Model, and ASPICE documentation guidelines.
  • Functional Safety (FuSi) Test Design
  • Interpret functional safety requirements (ISO 26262) and design safety-related tests.
  • Create test cases for safety mechanisms, fault detection/handling, and safe-state transitions.
  • Validate diagnostic coverage and safety goals using negative testing techniques.
  • Diagnostic System Integration
  • Design test cases aligned with vehicle diagnostic architecture (UDS, OBD, fault memory).
  • Validate DTC behavior, diagnostic communication, fallback strategies, and error reaction flows.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14229, ISO 15031, and related diagnostic standards.
  • Requirements Analysis & Traceability
  • Analyze system, software, and safety requirements from DOORS/DOORS Next.
  • Identify and resolve gaps or ambiguities in requirements.
  • Maintain complete bidirectional traceability between requirements, test cases, defects, and results.
  • ASPICE & Process Compliance
  • Prepare ASPICE-compliant test design documents (SWE.4SWE.6).
  • Support internal and external audits related to FuSi, ASPICE, or quality processes.
  • Create documentation for design reviews, release readiness, and milestone gates.

Technical Skills Required

Test Design & Analysis

  • Strong expertise in positive/negative testing, boundary value analysis, failure injection, and fault-based validation.
  • Experience designing system-level, integration-level, and component-level test cases.

Automotive Diagnostics

  • Hands-on knowledge of UDS services (Security Access, DTC handling, Read/Write Data, Routine Control, etc.).
  • Understanding of DTC behavior, event memory, and OBD compliance.
  • Experience with tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, dSPACE, ETAS INCA (preferred).

Requirements & Modeling Tools

  • Strong experience with IBM DOORS / DOORS Next.
  • Familiarity with system/diagnostic architecture tools like PREEvision, Cameo (nice to have).

Automotive Standards

  • ISO 26262 Functional Safety
  • Automotive SPICE (SWE.1SWE.6)
  • UDS/OBD diagnostic standards
  • V-Model development methodology

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work across cross-functional teams (software, safety, systems, diagnostics).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in test case design and requirements analysis in the automotive domain.
  • Knowledge of communication interfaces such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet is an added advantage.
