Job Description: Automotive Design Engineer

Crescendo Corporation, a Delhi-based leader in mobile healthcare solutions, is seeking an Automotive Design Engineer to innovate and engineer state-of-the-art Mobile Medical Units (MMUs), ambulances, and specialized healthcare vehicles for urban, rural, and remote deployments across India. This role focuses on designing rugged, self-sustaining vehicles integrated with medical equipment and telemedicine systems like Crescendo Connect.

About Crescendo Corporation

Specializing in custom mobile hospitals, cancer detection vans, blood banks, gynaecology units, and 12-meter mobile hospitals built on chassis from Ashok Leyland or TATA, Crescendo Corporation delivers hospital-quality care on wheels. Projects serve diverse applications in cardiology, ophthalmology, maternity, and pathology, ensuring accessibility in underserved areas from Jammu & Kashmir to Kerala.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Vehicle Design & Engineering:
  2. Conceptualize, model, and detail automotive chassis modifications for MMU integration, including air-conditioned cabins, power systems, vibration-resistant mounts for diagnostics (e.g., ultrasound, X-ray), and self-sustaining features (solar backups, water systems).
  3. CAD & Simulation:
  4. Use CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) to create 3D models, perform FEA for structural integrity, and simulate field conditions (rough terrain, heat/humidity).
  5. Component Integration:
  6. Design layouts for seamless medical equipment fitment, ergonomic workspaces, emergency access, and compliance with CMVR (Central Motor Vehicles Rules) and AAR standards.
  7. Prototyping & Testing:
  8. Oversee prototype builds, on-road testing, and iterations for durability, safety, and payload capacity (e.g., 10–15-ton GVW vehicles).
  9. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  10. Work with procurement, medical experts, and project teams to align designs with telemedicine hardware and client specifications (government/NGO tenders).
  11. Compliance & Innovation:
  12. Ensure designs meet ISO 13485 (medical devices), fire safety, and accessibility norms; innovate for fuel efficiency and sustainability.
  13. Documentation:
  14. Generate technical drawings, BOMs, and service manuals for manufacturing and after-sales support.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Education:
  2. Bachelor's in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; Master's or certifications in CAD/CAE preferred.
  3. Experience:
  4. 4–7 years in automotive design, with 2+ years in specialized vehicles (ambulances, mobile clinics, defence transports).
  5. Technical Skills:
  6. Expertise in CAD tools, ANSYS/MATLAB for simulations, GD&T, and knowledge of EV/hybrid chassis trends.

Required Skills & Competencies

  1. Proficiency in automotive materials (aluminium composites, shock-absorbing frames) for rugged applications.
  2. Strong problem-solving, project management, and team collaboration in fast-paced environments.
  3. Passion for healthcare innovation and ability to deliver within 6-month project cycles (10 units/month capacity).
  4. Familiarity with Indian automotive regulations and tender processes.
