Automotive 3D CAD Designer

Role Description The Automotive 3D CAD Designer is a full-time, remote role responsible for creating detailed 3D models and CAD designs for automotive components, systems, and full vehicle concepts. Day-to-day tasks include developing parametric models, refining surfaces and assemblies, and ensuring designs meet engineering, manufacturing, and aesthetic requirements. The designer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams such as engineering, product design, and creative media to translate ideas and specifications into accurate digital models and visual assets. The role involves preparing technical drawings, layouts, and documentation, performing design revisions based on feedback, and maintaining organized CAD libraries and project files. The designer also contributes to design reviews, helps optimize designs for visualization and production workflows, and supports continuous improvement of modeling standards and best practices.
Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in automotive 3D CAD modeling tools (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) and surface/solid modeling techniques.
• Experience with 3D visualization and rendering software (e.g., Blender, KeyShot, VRED, Unreal Engine, or equivalent) for creating high-quality visual assets.
• Knowledge of automotive design principles, basic mechanical engineering concepts, and design-for-manufacturing considerations.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and design briefs, and convert them into accurate 3D models and detailed drawings.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and version control in managing CAD files and documentation across multiple projects.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with remote, cross-functional teams in design and engineering.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving project priorities in a remote environment.
• Relevant education or training in industrial design, mechanical engineering, automotive design, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Previous experience in automotive, transportation, or product design is highly beneficial.
