Automobile CAD Designer

Job Overview:

Our client is looking for an Automobile CAD Designer to serve as the technical backbone of the design process, translating concepts into precise, manufacture-ready CAD files that move the product forward. Working directly with the founder, you will own the full CAD workflow—from interpreting 2D and 3D design intent to ensuring every output meets real-world manufacturing tolerances. You will bring structure and clarity to a fast-moving design environment, maintaining clean file management and delivering documented work that keeps production on track in a part-time remote setting.

Schedule: Flexible schedule; Part-time, 20 work hours per week

Responsibilities:

• Convert 2D and 3D design concepts into manufacture-ready CAD files.
• Ensure all CAD outputs meet manufacturing specifications and tolerances.
• Collaborate with the founder to refine and iterate on vehicle component designs.
• Submit completed work with clear documentation and progress reports.
• Maintain organized file management for all design assets and revisions.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in CAD development and design for manufacturing.
• Demonstrated ability to work with both 2D and 3D design formats.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacture principles.
• High level of attention to detail and precision in technical drawings.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in automotive or vehicle component design specifically.
• Experience working directly with a founder or small engineering team in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
• Experience preparing files for CNC machining, fabrication, or similar production processes.
