Automation Test Engineer - Software Quality Assurance

Qcentrio is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automation Test Engineer with a strong background in Software Quality Assurance. With 4+ years in automation, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scenarios for web and API applications. Your expertise in Core Java, OOPS, Selenium, and API automation (Rest Assured, BDD Cucumber) will be key to establishing testing as an integral part of our development process within cross-functional teams. You will drive continuous improvements in quality and contribute to a robust testing framework.

Role and Responsibilities

• Test Design & Execution: Design, develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test scenarios and test cases for Web-based and API applications across different platform offerings.
• Automation Framework Development: Establish testing as an integral part of the development process within cross-functional teams. Develop and maintain automated checks in collaboration with our development teams, contributing to POCs for upcoming toolsets and refactoring existing frameworks as per requirements.
• Java & OOP Proficiency: Demonstrate strong proficiency in Java programming with a solid understanding of OOP principles, collections framework, exception handling, and string manipulations.
• Quality Improvement: Proactively suggest improvements in testing tools for better test coverage for automation. Assess and bring continuous improvements to the overall quality of products and processes.
• Defect Management & Debugging: Detect and report defects, and follow up closely to ensure closure of issues. Work closely with the development team to debug any identified issues. Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for production defects and improve test assets accordingly.
• Agile Collaboration: Participate actively in scrum calls with customers and internal stakeholders. Thoroughly understand Sprint Planning, Sprint Execution, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective, and be responsible for driving sprints or releases to closure.
• Documentation: Be excellent in writing functional and technical documentation.

Required Skills

• Automation Expertise: Expertise in Automation Testing for Web and API applications.
• Experience: Should have 4+ years experience in Automation.
• Coding Skills: Strong coding skills, particularly Core Java programming, with OOPS concepts.
• Automation Tools: Strong experience in automation testing using Selenium along with Java and API automation with Rest Assured.
• BDD Frameworks: Good hands-on development experiences with frameworks like Cucumber.
• SDLC & Methodologies: Strong knowledge and experience in SDLC models, test methodologies, requirement comprehension, test planning, test preparation, test bed setup, test execution, test report generation, risk mitigation, effort estimation, and schedule tracking with sign-off accompanying release notes.
• CI/CD: Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) using Jenkins and Git, Maven.
• Database Knowledge: Basic knowledge of SQL for querying and managing relational databases.
• JSON Handling: Ability to convert JSON data to Java objects and vice versa using libraries like Jackson.
• Analytical & Communication: Must have strong analytical skills and be detail-oriented. Good communication, interpersonal, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
