Job Description

Job Overview

  • Responsible for overseeing software applications within the Life Science division.
  • Collaborate closely with dotted line to the BA, and technical teams to enhance customer satisfaction and support business growth.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Lead the development and execution of the APAC Life Science automation strategy, building regional capability for software, SCADA, PLC, control system upgrades, commissioning support and lifecycle services.
  • Support Getinge SSUs (Service Support Unit) across APAC in customer-specific automation issues, software modifications, commissioning challenges, upgrade opportunities and compliance-driven solutions.
  • Responsible for SCADA implementation India and APAC
  • Support rebuilding and upgrades of control systems.
  • Work with SSUs during SAT when support on automation is needed.
  • Troubleshoot, adjust, and implement software applications according to cGMP, GAMP 5 and change control procedures in the range of Life Science environments.
  • Partner closely with the BA and sales team to make sure we can fulfill the URS for new orders.
  • Identify new market opportunities, drive growth, determining the optimal pricing to balance profit with customer/ client satisfaction.
  • Plan, coordinate and manage commissioning processes to assure customer satisfaction, maximize overall efficiency on and off-the job site and to control costs.
  • Interface and communicate with the Sales BUs on all serious customer automation issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
  • Strategic Planning & Management: Develop and execute strategic plans for automation within the APAC region, aligning with overall business goals and customer needs.
  • Project Management: Oversee and manage automation projects related to new product development and modifications, ensuring timely completion and compliance with customer specifications.
  • Resource Management: Effectively allocate and manage automation resources across Getinge Life Science organizations within the region.
  • Customer Focus: Collaborate closely with customers to understand their specific automation requirements and provide technical support.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and develop automation technicians, fostering a high-performing and engaged team.
  • Operational Expertise: Contribute to operational activities as needed, leveraging technical skills and knowledge.
  • Reporting & Communication: Provide regular updates and reports to management on project progress, resource utilization, and key performance indicators.
  • Leadership and Development: Lead and guide the team of automation technicians and programmers, fostering their professional development.
  • Resource Management: Ensure the availability of resources necessary for the smooth operation of all automation activities within your region.
  • Skills Management: Assess the skill level of the automation team, identify gaps, and propose solutions. Where necessary, source external expertise.
  • Team Management: Oversee the efficient operation of the automation department across all activities.
  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication within the team, sharing relevant information and updates.
  • Documentation: Ensure the proper management (filing, updating) of technical documentation, in compliance with quality system standards.
  • Compliance: Guarantee adherence to applicable software development standards and regulations (IEC62304, GAMP5, 21CFR part 11).
  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to production and after-sales service teams, proposing solutions and coordinating interventions.
  • Support Backup: Act as backup for the automation specialist responsible for pre-sales and aftersales support.
  • Operational Support: Advise and support operational managers on technical and technological improvements, as well as non-quality issues.

Activities

  • Conduct automation solution studies under the direction of the activity leader.
  • Analyze and evaluate technical solutions and their feasibility in terms of technical, economic, administrative, and human resources.
  • Develop and implement solutions.
  • Oversee the creation of documentation (SDS, HDS, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with Getinge's methods and best practices.
  • Establish external partnerships as needed.
  • Monitor the application of qualification protocols.
  • Propose product improvements.
  • Cost Optimization: Suggest design optimizations to reduce costs.
  • Equipment Definition: Propose and contribute to the definition of equipment required for the efficient operation of the department.
  • Safety and Compliance: Guarantee adherence to quality, hygiene, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Reporting: Provide regular and accurate reporting to management, immediately notifying them of any incidents that may affect the company's reputation or interests.
  • Confidentiality and Discretion: Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Methodical and Precise: Follows procedures accurately and consistently.
  • Adaptability: Flexible and able to adjust to changing circumstances.

Minimum Requirements

  • Any bachelor's degree discipline focused on Automation, Electrical Engineering,
  • Control Systems, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Equivalent practical experience in industrial automation, pharmaceutical equipment automation or regulated life science environments may be considered.
  • 7 to 12 years of experience is required.
  • Proven experience implementing different software development standards.
  • Proven experience managing functional teams.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation programming (Siemens, B&R, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming
  • Excellent understanding of Windows and Linux Embedded environments
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA applications
  • PLC/HMI/SCADA platforms such as Siemens, WinCC, iFix, Wonderware, Ignition or equivalent
  • Industrial communication protocols such as Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP,
  • OPC UA or equivalent.
  • SQL/database integration, historian systems, audit trail functionality and reporting interfaces.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity considerations for industrial control systems and customer
  • network integration.
  • Experience with FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ, commissioning, troubleshooting and validated
  • software changes.
