Job Description

Job Purpose

To lead the design, development, integration, and validation of automation systems for OSD, Semi-Solid, and Liquid pharmaceutical equipment using Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC/SCADA/HMI platforms.

Reports to: Sr GM Automation & Control Systems

Principal Responsibilities:

Design and develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (Siemens & Allen Bradley) for pharma process equipment.

Review URS (E&A scope) for feasibility and highlight deviations where required.

Ensure automation systems comply with GMP and 21 CFR Part 11, other allied requirements (if within machine scope).

Plan, program, test, and validate automation modules within project timelines.

Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, process, and project teams to ensure seamless system integration.

Provide automation support during design reviews, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

Prepare and ensure timely submission of automation documentation and validation reports.

Lead, guide, and upskill automation engineers; ensure team capability development.

Drive improvements in automation design, reliability, standardisation, and performance.

Ensure adherence to company-approved automation platforms, SCADA versions, and engineering standards.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Behaviours

  • Education: BE/B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or related disciplines.

  • Experience: 512 years in automation design & development for capital equipment manufacturing, preferably pharmaceutical, chemical, food, or allied industries. Hands-on experience with Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC/SCADA systems.

  • Knowledge: PLC/HMI/SCADA programming & industrial communication, Electrical/automation drawings, control logic, interlocks & safety systems, FAT/SAT processes, validation documents & regulatory basics.

  • Skills: Automation programming & troubleshooting, Project planning & execution, Cross-functional coordination, Team leadership & training, Technical communication & documentation

  • Behaviours: Ownership & accountability, Detail-oriented & disciplined, Calm under pressure, Problem-solving mindset, Continuous improvement-focused

Travel Requirement: 10% to 20% Domestic and International travel
