Senior Engineer Hydraulic Systems & Actuation
Role Overview
We are seeking a Hydraulic Systems Engineer to design, develop, and validate advanced hydraulic actuation systems used in:
- Industrial robotics
- Precision manufacturing systems
- High-force linear actuation
- Servo-controlled fluid power systems
- Specialized industrial automation platforms
The role involves concept-to-product engineering, including system architecture, component selection, simulation, prototyping, and field validation.
This position requires close collaboration with mechanical, electrical, power electronics, and control systems teams developing next-generation industrial platforms.
Key Responsibilities
System Architecture
- Design hydraulic power units (HPU) and fluid power systems for industrial machines, Develop architectures for servo-hydraulic actuation and precision motion systems, Select and integrate, Pumps, Directional valves, Proportional / servo valves, Pressure control components, Accumulators, Hydraulic cylinders and motors.
Actuator Development
- Design high-performance hydraulic cylinders for precision control, Develop systems integrating, Position sensors, Pressure sensors, Flow sensors, Closed-loop control.
Control Integration
- Work with controls team to develop, Servo hydraulic control loops, Pressure and flow regulation, Motion control systems.
Simulation & Analysis
Perform modeling and analysis using tools such as:
- MATLAB / Simulink, AMESim / GT-Suite, Fluid power simulation tools
Areas of analysis include:
- Flow dynamics, Pressure transients, Energy efficiency, Thermal behavior.
Prototyping and Testing
- Build and validate hydraulic prototypes, Develop test rigs for hydraulic subsystems, Instrument systems for performance characterization.
System Optimization Improve:
- Efficiency, Responsiveness, Reliability, Maintainability.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Fluid Power Engineering
Experience
5+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
- Industrial hydraulics, Mobile hydraulics, Servo-hydraulic systems, Hydraulic actuation design
Experience with industries such as:
- Robotics, Heavy machinery, Aerospace, Manufacturing equipment, Automation systems
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of:
Hydraulic Components, Gear pumps, Piston pumps, Directional valves, Proportional valves, Servo valves, Accumulators, Hydraulic motors, Hydraulic cylinders
System Design
- Flow calculations, Pressure loss analysis, Valve sizing, Accumulator sizing, Heat dissipation, Instrumentation, Pressure sensors, Flow meters, Position sensors (LVDT / encoders)
Additional Preferred Skills
- Servo valve control, Electro-hydraulic systems, Hydraulic safety design, Thermal management
Preferred Experience
Experience in precision or high-performance systems such as:
- Industrial robotics, Aerospace actuation systems, Hydraulic test rigs, High precision servo systems
