Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer with strong expertise in MES integration with shopfloor equipment. The candidate will be responsible for enabling seamless data exchange between manufacturing systems and enterprise platforms, ensuring real-time visibility and control of production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement MES integration with shopfloor equipment (PLCs, CNCs, sensors, vision systems)
- Configure and manage communication using industrial protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus and SECS/GEM
- Integrate MES with SCADA/HMI and enterprise systems (ERP, databases)
- Develop APIs and middleware for data acquisition and orchestration
- Enable real-time production tracking, machine monitoring, and reporting
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues across hardware and software layers
- Ensure system scalability, reliability, and security compliance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, IT, and digital transformation
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron)
- Strong understanding of MES systems and ISA-95 architecture
- Experience with SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols
- Knowledge of OPC UA architecture and implementation
- Programming experience in Python / Java / .NET
- Database knowledge (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Industry 4.0 / IIoT implementations
- Exposure to vision systems integration
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure / AWS IoT)
- Experience in manufacturing industries (Automotive, Electronics, Pharma, FMCG)
- Knowledge of SECS/GEM with GEM II standard
- Experience working with the Ignition Event Streams module
- Experience working with Apache Kafka (both producer and consumer side).
Education
Bachelor's degree in electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Automation Engineering
