Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to design, build, and implement automated injection molding manufacturing cells. The role involves complete ownership of turnkey automation systems including tooling design, robotic automation, EOAT, vision inspection integration, PLC programming, and full system integration within injection molding environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop turnkey automated injection molding cells, including full system architecture and execution
  • Integrate robots for part removal, handling, trimming, inspection, and packaging operations
  • Design and develop end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), fixtures, and automation mechanisms
  • Build automated systems covering demolding, degating, inspection, leak testing, assembly, and packaging
  • Interface and integrate automation with injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment

Tooling & Mechanical Design

  • Design injection molds and tooling components aligned with automation requirements
  • Develop automation fixtures, nests, and EOAT systems
  • Create detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings
  • Select and integrate sensors, actuators, pneumatics, and motion components
  • Collaborate with toolmakers and machine shops for execution

Controls & Electrical Integration

  • Program PLCs (Allen Bradley / Siemens preferred)
  • Integrate robots, vision systems, sensors, pneumatics, and servo systems
  • Develop HMI interfaces for system control
  • Implement safety systems and interlocks
  • Commission, debug, and optimize complete automation cells

  • Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) molding
  • Medical device manufacturing environments
  • Cleanroom automation
  • Vision inspection systems
  • Leak testing systems
  • Turnkey automation cell build experience

Education / Experience

  • Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Robotics, or Manufacturing Engineering degree, or equivalent hands-on experience with 15+ years in automation and injection molding systems
