Plant Design Engineering

Position Summary

The AutoCAD Plant 3D Administrator is responsible for administering, configuring, and supporting the Plant 3D environment for engineering and design projects. This role manages project setup, Catalogs, specifications, templates, user permissions, technical support, and standards compliance to ensure smooth execution of multidisciplinary plant design activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

-       Project Setup and Administration

  • Administer and maintain AutoCAD Plant 3D projects for engineering and design teams, including project creation, configuration, and ongoing support.
  • Set up and manage multi-user, multi-project environments using Plant 3D with SQLite and/or SQL Server databases.
  • Create and maintain project folder structures, naming conventions, access controls, and project-specific standards.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as project archival, retrieval, backup, and organization of legacy data for future use.

-       Content and Standards Development

  • Develop, update, and maintain piping specifications, catalogues, specialty items, and Plant 3D component libraries.
  • Configure and administer support files, including templates, profiles, palettes, reports, and other Autodesk tools required by project teams.

-       Technical Support and Troubleshooting

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Plant 3D users, resolving user-level and advanced application issues.
  • Support engineering teams in maintaining model accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project and client standards.

-       Collaboration and Coordination

  • Coordinate with piping, instrumentation, electrical, civil, and other disciplines to ensure integrated model development and data consistency.

-       Training and Best Practices

  • Conduct internal user training and share best practices for Plant 3D workflows, standards, and project administration.

 

Required Qualifications

·         Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

·         Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in AutoCAD Plant 3D administration, project setup, and technical support.

·         Experience in engineering consultancy, EPC, or industrial plant design environments is preferred.

 

Required Skills

·         Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D administration and project setup.

·         Hands-on experience with Plant 3D customization, piping specifications, Catalog creation, and specialty item management.

·         Familiarity with SQLite / SQL Server and database-based Plant 3D environments.

·         Good understanding of engineering drawings, P&IDs, piping layouts, and plant design workflows.

·         Knowledge of international codes, standards, and engineering design practices is preferred.

·         Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and coordination skills.

Preferred Profile

·         Experience in training design teams on Plant 3D standards and workflows.

·         Exposure to related tools such as Navisworks, Revit, BIM workflows, or common data environment practices will be an added advantage.

·         Ability to support project delivery in a deadline-driven engineering environment.
