Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Australian Accounting & Finalization Professional to manage bookkeeping, year-end finalization, tax compliance, and financial reporting for Australian clients. The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience working with Australian accounting firms or Australian clients and have strong technical expertise in Australian accounting standards, taxation, GST, BAS, payroll, and financial statement preparation.

This role requires a professional who can independently manage multiple client engagements, ensure compliance with Australian regulations, and provide exceptional client service while maintaining accuracy and meeting strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

Australian Bookkeeping & Accounting

  • Manage end-to-end bookkeeping activities for Australian clients across multiple industries.
  • Perform bank, credit card, loan, and inter-company reconciliations.
  • Maintain general ledgers and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Process Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
  • Prepare month-end and year-end journals, accruals, prepayments, and depreciation entries.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and supporting schedules.

Australian Taxation & Compliance

  • Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS).
  • Handle GST calculations, reconciliations, adjustments, and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare tax workpapers and assist in preparation of Income Tax Returns.
  • Support year-end tax compliance activities and liaise with tax teams where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian taxation regulations and statutory deadlines.

Payroll & Superannuation

  • Process payroll and ensure accurate employee records.
  • Manage Superannuation calculations and compliance requirements.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll-related reports.

Client Management & Communication

  • Communicate directly with Australian clients through email and virtual meetings.
  • Respond to client queries professionally and provide timely support.
  • Build strong client relationships by delivering high-quality services.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth execution and timely delivery of assignments.

Process Improvement & Reporting

  • Prepare management reports and financial summaries.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices.
  • Maintain proper documentation and organized client files.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely completion of assignments.

Required Skills & Technical Expertise:

Mandatory Skills

  • Strong experience in Australian Accounting and Bookkeeping
  • Hands-on experience with Xero (Mandatory)
  • Strong understanding of:
  • BAS (Business Activity Statements)
  • GST
  • Payroll & Superannuation
  • Annual Accounts & Tax Compliance
  • Supporting Workpapers & Reconciliations
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Software Knowledge

  • Xero – Mandatory
  • MYOB – Preferred
  • QuickBooks – Preferred
  • BGL Simple Fund / Simple Fund 360 – Added Advantage
  • Microsoft Excel – Advanced Level

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or related field.
  • CA, CPA, ACCA, or CA Inter qualification will be preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in:
  • Australian Bookkeeping
  • Annual Accounts Finalization
  • Australian Taxation
  • Australian Accounting Outsourcing Firms
  • Firms handling Australian clients

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Experience working directly with Australian accounting firms or business clients.
  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting systems and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple client portfolios.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional, proactive, and client-focused approach.
