About the Company
Smith + Howard is a U.S.-based tax, accounting, and advisory firm known for technical rigor, client trust, and long-term relationships. As we expand our India-based global delivery model, we are building a versatile team that can support audit, accounting, and advisory engagements for our U.S. practices.
This role reflects a practical business reality: audit and assurance needs are currently higher, while valuation work is expected to grow over time.
We are seeking a Chartered Accountant with strong audit and assurance experience, who also has the capability and interest to support valuation assignments as needed.
About the Role
The role requires a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and the ability to apply these standards while supporting audit, review, and compilation engagements for U.S.-based clients. The immediate focus of this role will be on audit, review, and compilation engagements. As valuation demand increases, the role will gradually expand to include business valuation and financial analysis work. This is a hybrid technical role requiring flexibility, strong fundamentals, and comfort working across multiple service lines.

- Execute and support audit, review, and compilation engagements for U.S.-based clients
- Perform audit testing, documentation, and workpaper preparation in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable U.S. auditing standards
- Review financial statements to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP reporting requirements
- Identify GAAP-related accounting issues and assist in technical research where required
- Support preparation of financial statement disclosures under U.S. GAAP
- Assist engagement teams in resolving accounting and reporting matters under U.S. GAAP framework
- Review financial statements and supporting schedules for accuracy and compliance
- Analyze financial data, identify risks, and flag control or reporting issues
- Collaborate with U.S. engagement teams to meet quality and deadline expectations
- Assist in resolving audit queries and preparing client-ready documentation

- Willingness to adapt workload based on business demand
- Interest in long-term growth across audit + valuation, not siloed roles
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP; experience supporting U.S.-based audit engagements preferred
- Ability to interpret and apply U.S. accounting standards in practical audit scenarios
- Exposure to U.S. financial reporting and disclosure requirements is an advantage
Preferred Skills
