Description We are seeking an experienced and strategic Atlassian Administrator to manage and enhance the global Atlassian ecosystem within BMI. The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering and optimizing Jira and Confluence cloud environments, ensuring scalable governance, streamlined workflows, secure integrations, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
This role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, governance mindset, stakeholder management, and the ability to translate business and product management vision into sustainable Atlassian solutions that support enterprise-wide collaboration and transparency.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support enterprise-wide Atlassian Cloud environments including Jira Premium and Confluence Premium.
- Design, configure, and maintain scalable Jira projects, workflows, issue types, permission schemes, screens, and Confluence spaces.
- Establish standardized templates, taxonomy, and role-based access controls for global teams.
- Monitor platform capacity, manage licenses effectively, and implement license reclamation strategies to ensure optimized strategic spend.
- Translate product management and business requirements into scalable technical architecture and workflow solutions.
- Drive alignment between enterprise strategy and day-to-day work management through optimized Atlassian platform design.
- Evaluate, test, and securely integrate Atlassian Marketplace applications while ensuring compliance with internal security and enterprise architecture governance standards.
- Leverage Jira Automation to reduce manual effort, streamline support and intake processes, and improve operational efficiency across global teams.
- Manage configuration change requests while maintaining platform scalability and minimizing unnecessary technical sprawl.
- Provide governance-based recommendations and appropriately challenge requests that do not align with enterprise standards or existing scalable configurations.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders, IT teams, security teams, and product managers to continuously improve the Atlassian ecosystem.
- Ensure platform reliability, documentation standards, audit readiness, and governance best practices.
Qualifications
- 4–8 years of hands-on experience managing Atlassian environments.
- Strong expertise in Jira Cloud Premium and Confluence Cloud Premium administration.
- Atlassian Cloud Administration certifications are strongly preferred.
- Experience with Jira Automation, workflow customization, permission schemes, screens, dashboards, and reporting.
- Strong understanding of enterprise governance, security, and scalable platform architecture.
- Experience managing Atlassian Marketplace applications and integrations securely.
- Ability to balance business needs with platform standardization and long-term maintainability.
- Strong problem-solving, stakeholder communication, and decision-making skills.
- Experience working with global teams in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) certifications.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale agile delivery environments.
- Familiarity with IT governance and enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Exposure to integration tools, APIs, and automation platforms is a plus.
