Project Engineer Building Management & FitOuts (Mid Level)
Job Summary
The Project Engineer will manage technical delivery for building projects and interior fitouts, focusing on MEP systems, site execution, testing/commissioning, and client handover. The role requires a Mechanical or Electrical engineering background with 47 years relevant experience and the ability to coordinate multiple contractors on active sites.
Core Responsibilities
- Project planning & scheduling: maintain detailed schedules, resource plans, and milestone trackers; update PM on deviations.
- MEP & fitout coordination: review and approve shop drawings; coordinate HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire protection, and lowvoltage systems during fitouts.
- Site supervision & quality control: supervise installations, conduct inspections, manage snag lists, and ensure compliance with codes and client standards.
- Procurement support: prepare BOQs, evaluate vendor quotes, track deliveries, and manage subcontractor scope and performance.
- Testing, commissioning & handover: lead FAT/SAT, ensure O&M manuals and asbuilt drawings are complete, and manage client acceptance.
- Reporting & documentation: produce weekly progress reports, risk registers, changeorder logs, and handover packs.
- Stakeholder management: act as technical point of contact for clients, consultants, and statutory authorities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Degree: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: 47 years in building MEP, construction, or fitout projects.
- Technical knowledge: HVAC systems, electrical distribution, fire systems, plumbing, and basic structural awareness.
- Software: AutoCAD/Revit, MS Project/Primavera, CAFM/CMMS.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Certifications: PMP, LEED, or local statutory licenses are advantageous.
- Soft skills: strong communication, negotiation, problem solving, and team coordination.
- Key traits: proactive troubleshooting, attention to detail, and clientfacing confidence.
KPIs, Reporting & Interfaces
- KPIs: schedule adherence, budget variance, punchlist closure time, safety incidents, and client satisfaction.
- Reports to: Project Manager / Head of Building Management.
- Interfaces with: site supervisors, procurement, consultants, vendors, and statutory bodies.
Risks & Mitigation
- Vendor delays: mitigate with prequalification, SLAs, and milestonelinked payments.
- Scope creep in fitouts: enforce changecontrol and approval gates; maintain clear client signoffs.
