Job Description

Description

Are you passionate about empowering millions of customers to access credit responsibly and with confidence Do you thrive on solving complex risk challenges that directly shape lending decisions at scale Do you believe that data is the new oil - and love turning it into insights that fuel smarter credit decisions Come join us at Amazon 1P Lending - Risk! Our team is at the heart of Amazon's mission to make credit accessible, responsible, and seamless for customers across the globe. We design and manage the credit risk frameworks that power lending products loved by millions - from Pay Later to EMI solutions and beyond. We are part of Amazon's broader Amazon Pay organization, dedicated to building innovative financial products that are trusted, inclusive, and designed to put customers first - anytime, anywhere.
We are looking for a strategic and analytical Credit Risk Manager to join our Risk Management Team, with a strong understanding of risk management principles and proficiency in data management and manipulation tools such as SQL, Python, and Excel.
You will design and implement scalable risk governance frameworks that engage with customers throughout their loan lifecycle - from acquisition to customer management - enabling lending operations to run efficiently at scale within a defined risk appetite. This is a high-visibility role that requires strong operational rigor, cross-functional collaboration with Product, Collections, Finance, Tech, Compliance, and Legal teams, and the ability to communicate clearly to a variety of internal and external audiences.

Key job responsibilities
. Own end-to-end delivery of Risk Initiatives aligned to broader Team objectives.
. Design, maintain, and update risk mitigation policies and controls across all customer interactions - onboarding journey, credit and fraud underwriting, and customer lifecycle management
. Create and own a lending portfolio governance framework, including data models and reports, leveraging SQL, Python, Excel, and dashboarding tools
. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify potential risks and propose solutions, maintaining risk appetite and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements
. Communicate complex operational findings and strategic recommendations clearly to a variety of internal and external audiences, including senior leadership

A day in the life
On any given day, you'll use SQL, Python, and Excel to build and validate credit strategies, oversee their implementation, and monitor performance. You'll own risk dashboards and reports that track the lending portfolio's health. A significant part of your day involves working cross-functionally as the risk representative-providing inputs from product build through deployment to post-go-live management, co-owning risk KPIs. You'll also engage in stakeholder management through regular reviews-within Risk and with broader CFTs. No two days look the same, but every day demands a balance of analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and effective communication.

About the team
As part of the Risk team, we own all activities that directly impact the P&L risk line items. We design and maintain credit underwriting policies for loan-seeking customers, and manage the entire credit lifecycle-from disbursal through collections. We partner with data science teams to embed ML-driven risk models into our policy frameworks, and collaborate closely with product management to shape the lending product while mitigating process and fraud risks.

- Bachelor's degree
