Associate Vice President - Agency Strategy

Role description

Role Summary:

High-energy, execution-oriented Senior Manager / AVP †Agency Strategy & Project Management to join the Agency Strategy team.

The role will be responsible for driving strategic projects and key initiatives across the Agency distribution channel, ensuring that projects are clearly chartered, appropriately planned, executed within defined timelines, and delivered with the desired business outcomes.

The ideal candidate will combine strong project management discipline with a sound understanding of the life-insurance agency channel, and will be comfortable working with senior business leaders, cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilitie

1. Strategic Project Management

• Own and drive strategic projects from conceptualisation to implementation and closure.
• Develop clear project charters covering objectives, scope, deliverables, milestones, timelines, stakeholders and success metrics.
• Create detailed project plans and ensure adherence to agreed timelines and milestones.
• Track project progress through structured governance mechanisms and ensure timely course correction.
• Identify project dependencies, bottlenecks, risks and potential delays and proactively resolve/escalate them.
• Ensure projects are delivered with the desired quality, timelines and business impact.

2. Agency Strategy & Business Understanding

• Work closely with the Agency Strategy leadership team to translate business priorities into actionable projects.
• Understand key Agency business levers such as advisor recruitment, activation, productivity, retention, MDRT/recognition, leader capability and business growth.
• Support development and execution of strategic interventions aimed at improving Agency productivity and effectiveness.
• Bring insights from the Agency channel to improve project design and implementation.

3. Stakeholder Management

• Partner with senior stakeholders across Agency, Distribution, Training, Operations, Technology, Finance, Marketing and other functions.
• Drive cross-functional alignment and ensure clear ownership of deliverables.
• Conduct structured project reviews with senior leadership and provide concise updates on progress, risks and actions.
• Build strong relationships across stakeholders and influence outcomes without direct authority.

4. Project Governance & Execution

• Establish appropriate governance structures, review mechanisms and escalation processes for strategic initiatives.
• Maintain project trackers, dashboards, action logs and milestone reviews.
• Ensure timely closure of critical action items.
• Drive accountability across stakeholders and follow through until final implementation.
• Develop post-project reviews to measure outcomes and capture learnings.

5. Data, Analytics & Business Insights

• Use business data and analytics to identify opportunities, track project performance and measure impact.
• Develop meaningful MIS/dashboards for leadership reviews.
• Convert data into actionable insights and recommendations.
• Define and monitor project KPIs and success metrics.
