Job Summary
We are looking for a results-driven
Associate Technical Manager who effectively bridges the gap between high-level engineering strategy and day-to-day execution. In this role, you will lead a technical team not just by authority, but by technical competence and vision. You will be responsible for defining long-term technical goals, implementing robust development processes, and measuring team performance against concrete metrics.
You will be responsible for defining the technical vision, establishing robust development processes, and using data-driven metrics to optimize team performance. You must possess a strong background in
Java, Angular, and SQL not to code, but to validate architectural decisions, challenge technical assumptions, and mentor your team leads.
Responsibilities
- Strategy, Process & Metrics (The Manager Role)
Engineering Strategy: Define and execute a long-term technical roadmap that aligns with business goals. Move the team from reactive maintenance to proactive innovation.
Process Implementation: Own the SDLC. Move beyond basic Agile/Scrum participation to
designing the process. Identify bottlenecks in the CI/CD pipeline, QA handoffs, or requirements gathering and fix them.
Data-Driven Management: Define, track, and report on engineering KPIs (e.g., Sprint Velocity, Cycle Time, Defect Removal Efficiency, Code Coverage). Use these metrics to predict delivery timelines and identify training needs.
Resource Management: Handle capacity planning, hiring, and performance appraisals. Ensure the right people are working on the right tasks.
- Technical Governance & Oversight (The Technical Role)
Architecture & Standards: You will not review every line of code, but you will set the
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for code quality. You will approve high-level architectural designs and technology choices.
Technical Risk Management: Anticipate technical debt and scalability issues. Create strategies to modernize legacy systems (specifically in Java/MSSQL environments) without disrupting business operations.
Unblocking the Team: Serve as the final escalation point for technical roadblocks. When the team is stuck, you provide the decision-making framework to move forward.
Mentorship: Mentor Team Leads and Senior Developers to become future managers or architects.
Visionary Leadership: Translate what we are building into why we are building it, ensuring every developer understands the long-term impact of their work on the garment manufacturing industry.
Qualifications
Experience:8 to 12 years of total software industry experience, with at least
2+ years dedicated to leadership or management roles.
Team Leadership: Proven experience managing teams of
10+ developers and QA engineers. You must have a track record of
creating and sustaining high-performing engineering teams.
Management Focus: A background as a developer is essential for context, but your core expertise should be in
unlocking team potential and ensuring consistent delivery, rather than writing code.
Technical Fluency: Deep conceptual understanding of
Java, Angular, and Database (SQL) architectures. You should be able to look at a proposed solution and immediately identify scalability risks or security flaws.
Operational Excellence: Strong experience with project management tools (Jira), version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
Communication: Ability to discuss technical debt with engineers and ROI with business stakeholders in the same hour.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills to articulate technical vision to non-technical stakeholders.
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
