Role Overview
Hitachi Energy is looking for an Associate Project Manager to support and drive the execution of medium to large EPC projects within the Grid Automation business. The role involves coordinating cross-functional teams, managing defined project work packages, and ensuring compliance with quality, safety, contractual, and financial requirements across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Coordination
- Support Project Managers in executing EPC projects covering engineering, procurement, manufacturing, installation, testing, commissioning, and project close-out.
- Independently manage assigned project work packages including documentation, action tracking, invoicing milestones, SAP updates, and checklist management.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, quality, and site teams to ensure timely deliverables.
Planning, Monitoring & Control
- Maintain and update project parameters in SAP/GPP including cost planning, cash flow, warranty blocks, and governance compliance.
- Track key project KPIs such as on-time delivery, invoicing milestones, variations/claims, and risk mitigation actions.
- Support project financial updates, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain project documentation including status reports, dashboards, meeting minutes, action logs, and technical submittal trackers.
- Assist in customer communications by preparing progress updates and clarification responses.
Risk, Change & Close-Out Management
- Support project change management including variations, claims, delays, and risk & opportunity tracking.
- Coordinate project handover to service teams including snag-list closure, PAC/FAC follow-up, warranty triggers, and contractual deliverables.

Candidate Profile
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in EPC / Turnkey or Grid Automation projects.
- Exposure to substation automation, protection & control, SCADA/RTU, FACTS, or network control systems.
- Experience working with EPC workflows including engineering deliverables, procurement, contractor coordination, and site execution.
Technical Knowledge
- Ability to interpret SLDs, GA drawings, BOQs, contract clauses, compliance matrices, ITPs/QAPs, and engineering schedules.
- Understanding of grid automation systems such as RTUs, relays, protection schemes, communication networks, and control systems.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong working knowledge of SAP, Primavera / MS Project, MS Excel, Power BI, and EPC project reporting tools.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills for cross-functional and customer interactions.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
- Analytical mindset with ability to track KPIs, identify risks, and proactively close action items.
- Self-driven and adaptable to fast-paced EPC project environments.
- CAPM / PMP certification is an added advantage.
