Program Manager - School of Commerce

AIMS Institutes invites applications from accomplished academics and commerce professionals for the role of Program Manager in the School of Commerce. This is a senior academic leadership position requiring a strong research pedigree, a credible publications record in commerce and management disciplines, and a commitment to shaping practice-ready graduates in a dynamic business environment.

About The Role

The Program Manager will provide strategic academic leadership to one or more Commerce programs, overseeing curriculum design, faculty coordination, student outcomes, and research culture. The incumbent will serve as the primary academic point of accountability for the program, working closely with the Director of the School of Commerce and cross-functional stakeholders across the institution, including industry partners and professional bodies such as ICAI, ICMAI, and CII.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end program management for B.Com & M.Com programs including curriculum design, revision, and accreditation readiness
  • Drive a research-first culture by mentoring faculty and students to publish in Scopus/WoS/ABDC-indexed journals and present at national and international conferences
  • Forge and maintain partnerships with industry, CA/CMA firms, banks, and financial institutions for internships, live projects, and guest faculty engagements
  • Oversee timetabling, faculty workload distribution, examination planning, and academic calendar adherence
  • Monitor and continuously improve student academic performance, retention, and placement outcomes
  • Lead NBA/NAAC documentation, self-study reports, and audit preparedness for the school
  • Establish and sustain a Centre of Excellence in areas such as Finance, Taxation, Accounting Analytics, or Entrepreneurship
  • Guide final-year projects, dissertations, and interdisciplinary applied research with commerce and management linkages
  • Organise seminars, case competitions, finance conclaves, and industry interface events

Mandatory Qualifications

  • PhD in Commerce, Management, or a closely related discipline from a recognised university
  • Minimum 8 years of post-PhD academic experience, or a combination of academia and industry in financial services, consulting, or corporate roles
  • At least 10 publications in peer-reviewed, indexed journals (Scopus / Web of Science / ABDC-listed); h-index ≥ 5 preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design at UG or PG level in commerce or management
  • Prior administrative or program coordination experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as CA, CMA, CFA from a reputed institution alongside the PhD
  • Active funded research projects (ICSSR, DST, ICAR, or international agencies)
  • Experience with NBA / NAAC / AACSB accreditation processes
  • Consulting or advisory engagements with corporates, MSMEs, or government bodies
  • Familiarity with outcome-based education (OBE) and Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)

Research & publications expectations

Candidates must present a verifiable publication record. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to share their Google Scholar, Scopus, or SSRN profile. Ongoing or pipeline research in areas such as financial markets, corporate governance, taxation policy, behavioural finance, sustainability reporting, fintech, entrepreneurship, or supply chain economics is viewed favourably. Evidence of guiding doctoral or post-doctoral researchers and securing research grants is a strong differentiator.
