Job Description

About Us
At Newton School of Technology, in collaboration with Ajeenkya DY Patil University, we're on a mission to reshape the future of technology education in India. Together, we are working to bridge the employability gap by equipping learners with relevant, industry-ready skills and creating meaningful impact at scale. With the combined strength of academic excellence and hands-on industry experience, we are building a forward-looking learning environment designed to nurture the next generation of tech innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders.

Job Summary :
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Associate Professors to join our Physics department at our Pune campus. We believe that Physics is the bedrock of all modern technology—from the semiconductors in our pockets to the quantum algorithms of the future.

If you are passionate about teaching, excited about mentoring young minds, and eager to show students how physical principles drive technological breakthroughs, we would love to meet you. Whether your expertise lies in Quantum Mechanics, Semiconductor Physics, Electromagnetism, or Computational Physics, you will play a key role in building a strong scientific foundation for our future engineers.

Key Responsibility Areas :

Teaching & Learning

  • Teach and engage students across foundational and applied Physics modules.
  • Bridge the Gap: Design curriculum that connects Physics concepts to real-world tech applications (e.g., Physics for AI, Robotics, or Hardware Engineering).
  • Lead lab sessions, modernizing the practical experience with high-tech tools and data-driven experiments.
  • Provide consistent support through mentoring, tutoring, and doubt-solving.

Academic Ownership & Innovation

  • Take ownership of student learning outcomes and ensure Physics remains a favorite rather than a hurdle for tech students.
  • Lead or contribute to research initiatives, particularly in applied or computational physics.
  • Cultivate a supportive, collaborative, and inspiring learning environment that encourages curiosity.

Collaboration & Administration

  • Work collaboratively with CS faculty to integrate Physics with subjects like Graphics, Robotics, and Quantum Computing.
  • Actively participate in department events, academic committees, and institutional initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with students and colleagues to support a vibrant academic culture.

Qualifications :

  • PhD or M.Sc./M.Tech in Physics, Applied Physics, or a related interdisciplinary field (PhD preferred).
  • UGC-NET/SLET qualified candidates are strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in teaching or research at the university level is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex physical phenomena.
  • Familiarity with computational tools (like Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica) is highly desirable.

Required Expertise (Any One or More)

  • Foundational & Solid State Physics: Expertise in Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics, Optics, Semiconductors, Nanotechnology, and Material Science.
  • Quantum & Applied Physics: Proficiency in Quantum Mechanics, Information Theory, Quantum Computing, Electronics, Robotics Physics, Sensors, and Signal Processing.
  • Computational Physics: Strong background in Numerical Methods, Modeling and Simulation, and Data Analysis for solving complex physical problems.

Perks & Benefits :

  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Opportunities for research, publications, and interdisciplinary academic collaborations.
  • Access to modern labs, tools, and state-of-the-art learning facilities.
  • Freedom to innovate and influence the next generation of technologists.
  • A warm, collaborative academic community that values growth and mentorship.

Interview Process:
The selection process consists of three rounds designed to assess technical expertise, teaching ability, and cultural fit:

  • Round 1 – Technical Evaluation: Assessment of theoretical knowledge and problem solving skills along with conceptual approach in Mathematics.
  • Round 2 – Topic Delivery Assessment: Candidates will be required to deliver a mock lecture to evaluate, teaching methodology, engagement, and conceptual clarity
  • Round 3 – General Discussion & Culture Fit: A discussion with university and Newton School representatives to assess alignment with academic values, teamwork, and long-term career aspirations.
  • In the meantime, you can explore our website Newton School of Technology  to learn more about Newton School of Technology and our work.

We look forward to welcoming you to our academic team and shaping the future of technology education together!
