About the Role
The Associate Professor of Social Work/ Sociology will be responsible for teaching, research, academic leadership, and service activities in the discipline of Political Science. The role involves delivering high-quality instruction, conducting impactful research, mentoring students and faculty, and contributing to the academic growth and reputation of the university.
Responsibilities
Teaching & Academic Duties
- Teach undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral-level courses in Social Work/ Sociology
- Develop and update curriculum
- Use innovative teaching methodologies, including digital tools and blended learning
- Evaluate student performance through examinations, assignments, and projects
- Supervise PhD scholars and guide postgraduate research
Research & Publications
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in Social Work/ Sociology and related areas
- Publish research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals (Scopus / Web of Science)
- Secure research grants and funding from national and international agencies
- Present research at conferences, seminars, and workshops
Academic Leadership & Administration
- Provide academic leadership within the department
- Participate in curriculum design, academic planning, and accreditation processes (NAAC/NIRF)
- Contribute to university committees and academic bodies
- Mentor junior faculty and support faculty development initiatives
Student Engagement & Extension Activities
- Mentor students for academic, research, and career development
- Organize and participate in seminars, workshops, conferences, and guest lectures
- Engage in community outreach, policy discussions, and extension activities
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Social Work/ Sociology discipline from a recognized university
- A distinguished academic record with minimum experience of 8 years
- Strong record of research publications in reputed journals
- Experience in teaching at postgraduate and doctoral levels
Required Skills
- Strong subject knowledge in Social Work/ Sociology or related areas
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Research orientation and grant-writing capability
- Leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
