Position Summary
The Associate Professor at UNSW Bengaluru is an academic role focused on delivering high quality teaching, contributing to research, and supporting academic governance. This position is integral to the success of UNSW Bengaluru's academic mission, ensuring that students receive a world-class education aligned with global standards. The Associate Professor plays a key role in curriculum delivery across postgraduate programs, actively engages in scholarly activity, and fosters an inclusive and a supportive learning environment. Beyond teaching, the role involves contributing to curriculum innovation, collaborating with colleagues across UNSW campuses, and participating in initiatives that strengthen academic quality and institutional reputation. The Associate Professor is expected to maintain an emerging research profile, contribute to faculty development, and uphold academic standards consistent with UNSW and University Grants Commission (UGC) frameworks, while promoting equity, diversity, and student success.
Accountabilities
- Lead postgraduate teaching aligned with UNSW curricula and UGC standards.
- Design and review curriculum content, learning activities, and assessment frameworks.
- Mentor academic staff and contribute to faculty development programs.
- Supervise postgraduate coursework.
- Maintain a strong research profile with publications in high-impact journals.
- Contribute to academic governance, including committee leadership and policy development.
- Ensure compliance with academic integrity, quality assurance, and accreditation standards.
- Represent UNSW Bengaluru in academic, industry, and professional forums.
- Promote inclusive teaching practices and support student equity and diversity.
- Collaborate with UNSW Sydney faculty to ensure curriculum equivalence and research alignment.
- Build partnerships with industry, government, and external institutions.
- Support strategic planning and contribute to campus-wide academic initiatives.
- Uphold UNSW values and contribute to a high-performance academic culture.
- Ensure safe and compliant academic practices in teaching and research.
Skill & Experience
- Completed PhD in technical cyber security, computer science with a focus on technical cyber security, or closely related discipline and at least 5 years of relevant work experience
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and curriculum development in cyber security topic areas such as cyber offence, cyber defense, digital forensics, information assurance and security, software security, and data and decision analytics for cyber security at undergraduate or postgraduate level
- Demonstrated experience in developing and using cyber security applications in Linux, including on cloud platforms and developing practical learning materials
- Experience in engaging and inspiring students from diverse backgrounds, supporting student equity and inclusion, and fostering independent learning through meaningful assessment and helpful feedback
- Demonstrated track record in research including publications in high impact journals, research funding and research supervision
