Job Description - Associate, Private Equity
LocationMumbai / Bangalore
Reports To: Vice President / Principal / Managing Director
Department: Private Equity Investments
Role Summary
The Associate will play a key role across the deal lifecycle-from sourcing support and financial analysis to due diligence and portfolio monitoring. The role is ideal for a candidate with strong analytical capabilities, financial modelling expertise, and the ability to work in a fast-paced investment environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Evaluation & Execution
  • Support end-to-end deal processes including research, modelling, valuation, and investment committee materials.
  • Assist in due diligence across financial, commercial, legal, and operational aspects.
  • Prepare investment memorandums, teasers, and pitch decks for internal and external stakeholders.
Market & Industry Research
  • Conduct detailed sector studies, competitive landscape mapping, and thematic investment analysis.
  • Track market developments and identify potential investment opportunities.
Portfolio Monitoring & Value Creation
  • Analyze monthly / quarterly portfolio performance and prepare reporting dashboards.
  • Support portfolio company initiatives including operational improvements, budgeting, and strategic reviews.
  • Assist in exit-related analysis, benchmarking, and valuation updates.
Deal origination, Relationship & Process Management
  • Work with investment banks, advisors, consultants, and portfolio company management teams to originate transactions
  • Ensure documentation, data rooms, and regulatory compliance are maintained efficiently.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Strong financial modelling, corporate finance, and valuation skills (DCF, LBO, Comps, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with ability to prepare high-quality presentations.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to multitask, and thrive under timelines.
  • Team-oriented mindset with professional maturity and confidentiality.
Qualifications
  • 3 - 5+ years of experience in Investment Banking, Transaction Advisory, Consulting, or prior PE/VC roles.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance / Business / Economics / Engineering MBA, CA, or CFA candidates preferred.
  • Familiarity with SEBI AIF Category II regulations preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, data tools knowledge of BI dashboards a plus.
