Role Summary

The L3 SQL Database Administrator will play a critical role in architecting implementing and maintaining enterprisegrade database environments across Microsoft SQL Server MySQL Azure DatabaseasaService DBaaS and MongoDB platforms This role demands deep technical expertise a strategic mindset and a handson approach to ensuring database performance scalability and reliability in hybrid infrastructures encompassing both onpremises and cloud environments

Key Responsibilities

Architect deploy and manage SQL Server MySQL and MongoDB databases across onpremises and Azure cloud platforms

Lead the administration of Azure Database Services Azure SQL Azure Database for MySQLPostgreSQL and MongoDB Atlas ensuring high availability scalability and business continuity

Design and implement highavailability and disaster recovery solutions including AlwaysOnAvailability Groups replication and georedundant backups

Perform performance tuning query optimization and capacity planning using specialized database monitoring tools

Establish and enforce database security standards including authentication encryption access control and auditing

Execute patching version upgrades and database migrations with minimal downtime

Automate operational workflows and deployment processes using PowerShell Azure CLI and DevOps pipelines

Collaborate with application DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure optimal database design and integration in production systems

Conduct root cause analysis RCA and devise preventive strategies for recurring database incidents

Maintain comprehensive documentation including standards architecture diagrams and operational runbooks

Mentor junior administrators and guide development teams on best practices for database design and performance optimization

Required Skills Experience

Advanced expertise inMicrosoft SQL Server 201620192022 clustering AlwaysOn query optimization backuprestore and performance tuning

MySQL replication tuning backup automation and schema optimization

Azure DbaaS provisioning performance management scaling cost optimization and monitoring

MongoDB Atlas preferred setup sharding backup monitoring and performance tuning

Strong handson knowledge of Azure portal RBAC networking resource groups and Azure Monitor

Proficiency in TSQL PowerShell and scripting for automation and monitoring

Solid understanding of DevOps pipelines IaCtools ARM Terraform and integration with CICD systems

Experience with enterprise monitoring and ing tools eg Azure Monitor DataDog SolarWinds Redgate

Certifications Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related discipline

Microsoft Certified Azure Database Administrator AssociateMongoDB Certified DBA preferred

Additional consideration for certifications in Azure Data Engineer or AWS Database Specialty

ITIL Foundation certification is an added advantage
