Job Description

Do you have what it takes to build India's most valuable startups

Startups aspire to change the way we live and work. They are here to create economic value. Enabling their founders with empathy and assertiveness is an art. We are seeking such partners as part of YourNest's journey to nurture success for DeepTech startups.

At YourNest, we've been scouting for diamonds in the rough since 2011: with three flagship funds and a continuum fund adding up to $ 160 mn, being the first to focus on DeepTech startups, having delivered more than 10 exits in last 5-years, and while ensuring we remain among India's best-performing early-stage funds, we've made it a habit to set new benchmarks in the country's venture capital sector. And we've done this thanks to an enterprising team of committed young people who work closely with our founders to help them succeed.

YourNest is all set to launch its flagship Fund IV of INR 1500 crores and is seeking to strengthen its Portfolio Management and Growth team. Now we're hiring an Associate Principal - Growth Equity & Exits to join us in this mission.

How does this role contribute

As an Associate Principal/Principal - Growth Equity & Exits, you will lead the growth equity and exits, telling the portfolio company's story to the right buyer with years of context, not a cold introduction. Ensures the founder's outcome reflects the journey, not just the numbers. Lead the end-to-end strategy and execution for portfolio exits and facilitates critical follow-on funding rounds (Series A and beyond). This role is designed to ensure fund-level outcomes specifically meeting DPI targets while providing institutional memory and near-Partner leadership for founders during high-stakes transactions. The Impact is at Fund level.

What will help you succeed

  • Drive Exit Strategy & Execution (structuring acquisitions, secondaries, IPOs) and Exit Readiness & Compliance (aligning stakeholders on deal terms, documentation, and value realisation).
  • Power Ecosystem Relationship Management — centralising and deepening relationships with VCs, CVCs, and investment bankers, and maintaining a live database of investor theses.
  • Fuel Fundraising Support — strengthening investment narratives, refining pitches, and aligning KPIs at least 3 months pre-raise; also shapes how exit stories are pitched to the right buyer.

You own — directly and accountably

  • Exit Strategy & Execution: Partner with core management to shape and execute tailored exit strategies through acquisitions, secondaries, or IPOs, ensuring value maximisation and stakeholder readiness.
  • Fundraising Support: Drive early momentum for portfolio companies subsequent rounds by strengthening investment narratives, refining pitches, and aligning KPIs at least three months before initiating fundraising.
  • Ecosystem Relationship Management: Centralise and manage high-level relationships with hundreds of VCs, CVCs, and investment bankers. Maintain an updated database of investor theses and partner-level interests to avoid fragmented outreach.
  • Structured Scenario Planning: Construct realistic, visionary, and missed exit scenarios for each portfolio company, identifying clear triggers and aligning founders with fund-wise objectives.
  • Exit Readiness & Compliance: Formalise institutional memory by creating playbooks and checklists for readiness (e.g., share dematerialisation, audit completion, and shareholder documentation).

KPIs and Impact Measurement

  • Fund Performance: Achieving specific DPI milestones (e.g., Fund II DPI of 1.15x to 2.0x within next 9-months).
  • Fundraising Success: Enabling 75%–85% of eligible portfolio companies to receive their next round of funding within 18 months of YourNest's investment.
  • Relationship Depth: Continuously securing new high-impact VC/CVC partners.
  • Operational Excellence: Growth narrative, High-impact pitch deck, Data room completeness, diligence turnaround time, and valuation realised versus benchmarks.
  • Founders Connect & Engagement: Founder NPS equivalent post-exit.

What qualifications & experience must you have

  • Associate Principal (8–12 years of experience): You have deep transaction experience. You manage 2–4 exit processes or portfolio companies, leading strategy and execution with minimal oversight.
  • Principal (12+ years of experience): You have extensive experience navigating the full exit landscape. You lead 2–4 exit processes or portfolio companies with complete autonomy, mentor APs, and shape fund-level exit strategy.
  • 8–12 years (AP) or 12+ years (Principal) of experience structuring and closing complex transactions (M&A, secondaries, IPOs), ideally within growth equity, investment banking, or venture capital, with a demonstrated ability to negotiate high-stakes deals and maximise value for stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience building and managing relationships with VCs, CVCs, and investment bankers, gained through prior roles in venture capital, investment banking, or startup ecosystems.
  • Experience supporting companies through funding rounds — shaping investment narratives, refining pitches, and aligning teams on KPIs ahead of a raise, ideally in a VC, startup, or advisory capacity.
  • Experience in scenario planning, exit-readiness processes, or building structured frameworks/playbooks (e.g. compliance, documentation, stakeholder alignment) for high-stakes transactions, preferably in a PE, VC, or M&A advisory setting.
