As a Associate – Overhead Line Engineering, you will play a key technical and leadership role in delivering complex transmission line projects across the UK portfolio. You will lead design excellence, drive project delivery, and mentor teams while ensuring alignment with business objectives and client expectations.
Technical Leadership & Delivery
- Lead the design and delivery of Overhead Line Circuits (11kV to 400kV), ensuring high-quality, compliant engineering outputs.
- Provide technical authority on transmission tower and foundation design, including review and approval of complex deliverables.
- Oversee the preparation of engineering calculations, design documentation, and technical reports in accordance with relevant UK codes and standards.
- Drive design optimization strategies to improve efficiency, reduce material quantities, and enhance project value.
- Lead sag-tension analysis and preliminary design inputs at tender and execution stages.
- Provide advanced expertise in PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, and PLS-POLE, ensuring best practices in modelling and design.
- Review designs from suppliers, partners, and clients, ensuring technical compliance, constructability, and innovation.
Project & Team Leadership
- Take ownership of end-to-end project delivery for multiple or complex assignments, ensuring delivery to scope, timeline, quality, and budget.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and capability development for engineering teams.
- Drive effective coordination across multidisciplinary teams and global stakeholders.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across design processes, standards, and tools.
Client & Business Engagement
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their strategic drivers and delivering tailored solutions.
- Lead or support client interactions, technical presentations, and review meetings.
- Contribute to business development initiatives, including proposals, bids, and technical solutions.
- Identify opportunities to expand service offerings and strengthen client relationships.
WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE:
- 12+ years of experience in design and delivery of UK Overhead Line projects (Towers and/or Poles up to 400kV).
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Proven track record of leading engineering teams and delivering complex, large-scale transmission projects.
- Strong experience in design review, approval authority, and technical governance.
- Expertise in PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, and PLS-POLE (or equivalent tools).
- In-depth knowledge of UK design codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
