Job Purpose: This role is responsible for overseeing the organization's legal proceedings by handling both regulatoty and non regulatory litigation. The role involves direct management of civil litigations, response to regulatory challenges, and coordination with various business units to support the company's legal position.
Job Responsibilities
Lead Litigation
Notice Management
Draft initial legal notices and coordinate comprehensively with business functions to gather factual backgrounds upon receipt of notices.
Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to ensure coherent and informed responses to legal notices while adhering to established protocols.
Advice and consult business teams on the issuance of notices to ensure compliance with legal standards and corporate policies.
Regulatory Litigation Management
Oversee the documentation for all regulatory litigation cases.
Assess the implications of regulatory litigation outcomes on the organization's operations and strategize the pursuit of appellate remedies or settlements.
Ensure detailed preparation and submission of regulatory petitions, liaising with advocates to represent the company's regulatory interests effectively.
Non-Regulatory Litigation Management
Assess the implications of non-regulatory litigation outcomes to determine appropriate follow-up actions, including potential appeals or alternative dispute resolution methods.
Brief external counsel and aid in preparation and management of responses to legal challenges.
Compile and maintain comprehensive documentation for all legal proceedings.
Assist law firms by supplying relevant data and insights for non regulatory litigation cases.
Provide support in court sessions, offering legal advice and strategies to representative business teams.
Evaluate the results of legal proceedings to assess the merit and strategic value of initiating appellate action.
Internal Legal Advisory And Strategy Implementation
Provide business teams with expert legal opinions on various issues to foster informed decision-making across the company.
Remain updated on current changes in the law and integrate insights into evolving legal strategies for the organization.
Communicate proactively with legal counsel regarding company developments that may impact pending or ongoing legal proceedings.
Document and startegically incorporate internal developments in court submissions.
Advise and inform relevant parties on the status of legal matters, maintaining transparency and consensus on legal actions.
Legal Relationship Management
Maintain and develop strategic relationships within the legal fraternity, including networking with law firms and industry associations to benefit the company's legal standing.
Aid the Head - Legal in selecting law firms to contract for various litigations, ensuring alignment with the specific needs and strengths of each case.
Oversee and manage engagements with external legal experts to ensure proficient case handling and representation.
Legal Research And Technological Enhancement
Execute detailed legal research utilizing technology to inform on various legal case decisions, maintaining a proactive stance toward legal inquiry and analysis. For e.g. Manupatra
Spearhead the implementation and management of innovative legal technologies to elevate data management, ensuring efficient storage, retrieval, and analysis capabilities for the legal team.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all civil, commercial, and nonregulatory litigation involving the company.
- Draft, review, and approve pleadings, responses, affidavits, written statements, and other legal documents.
- Coordinate with external counsel, monitor progress, and develop case strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Ensure timely filing of cases, responses, appeals, and compliance with procedural timelines.
- Handle regulatory litigation including notices, showcause responses, adjudication matters, and appeals with regulatory bodies.
- Evaluate regulatory challenges and formulate appropriate legal responses to mitigate risk.
- Track regulatory developments and advise business units on compliance implications.
- Liaise with government authorities, regulators, and statutory agencies as required.
Qualifications
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor's/ Master's Degree (Law) Bar Council of India accreditation (optional), Additional Degrees or Certifications (Corporate Law, M&A) preferred
Work Experience (Range Of Years)
Minimum of 6 years of legal experience, with exposure to handeling litigation and strategizing in a corporate setting.
Preferred Industry
Background in corporate law within the energy sector, particularly with experience in managing legal aspects of litigations and having knowledge of industry specific laws and regulations.
