The Context for This Role
As Athena Infonomics continues to scale its research, advisory, and digital product portfolio, the need for design excellence has never been more acute. We communicate complex data and evidence to policymakers, funders, and development partners across the globe - and great design is central to how we make that communication land. From brand identity and reports to digital platforms, social media, and video content, our design outputs represent the credibility and creativity of the organisation.
The Associate Manager - Design will be the creative engine behind Athena's visual identity, owning end-to-end design across print, digital, and motion - while embedding AI-powered workflows into the team's everyday creative practice.
The Role
The Associate Manager - Design will be the creative backbone of Athena's communications and brand function. You will own the visual language that underpins our products, reports, campaigns, and digital presence - working closely with the communications, research, and business development teams to ensure every output is compelling, on-brand, and built for the audiences that matter most to us.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Along with other design team colleagues, lead visual design across all organisational outputs: publications, reports, presentations, infographics, digital assets, social media, and branded collateral.
- Design and maintain responsive websites and landing pages, ensuring strong UX/UI and conversion-focused user journeys.
- Create short-form and long-form video content, motion graphics, and animations for digital channels and campaigns.
- Build and manage a coherent design system and brand guidelines for use across teams.
- Collaborate with researchers, consultants, and communications staff to translate complex evidence into clear, visually engaging narratives.
- Integrate AI-powered creative tools into the team's daily workflow - accelerating ideation, content production, and iteration.
- Mentor interns and associates, and support capacity building in design literacy across the organisation.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, maintaining quality standards and meeting deadlines.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a creative and technically versatile designer who is equally comfortable crafting a brand identity, building a motion graphic, or prototyping a digital experience - and who embraces AI as an accelerant, not a shortcut.
Design & Creative
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro).
- Strong understanding of typography, colour theory, composition, visual storytelling, and branding.
- Expertise in designing for digital-first brands.

- Proficiency in Figma and modern design systems.
- Experience designing responsive websites and landing pages.
- Understanding of user-centred design principles and conversion-focused design.
Video & Motion Design

The successful candidate should demonstrate an ability to integrate AI into day-to-day creative workflows rather than using AI as a standalone tool. We are not looking for passive familiarity - we want someone who actively experiments with and applies AI to accelerate creative output.
Why Join Us
- Contribute to shape the visual identity of a globally recognised consultancy operating at the intersection of data, policy, and technology.
- Work on genuinely complex creative problems - from visualising large-scale research findings to building campaigns for international development audiences.
- Join a team that values design as a strategic function, not an afterthought: your work will directly influence how Athena is perceived by governments, donors, and partners worldwide.

- This position requires successful completion of a reference check and employment verification.
