The Team:

The PitchBook team performs web-based research for private capital markets and also Stock exchange filings for research on public companies.

PitchBook's Public Equity Data teams collect, analyze, and maintain comprehensive datasets covering Financial statements, Capital structures, Industry & Normalized Metrics, and Documents Sourcing, Executive insights, Estimates, Transcripts, etc. These teams leverage advanced tools and methodologies to ensure accuracy and provide detailed insights into company performance, regulatory benchmarks, and governance. This data empowers PitchBook customers to perform in-depth analysis, evaluate investment opportunities, benchmark industry performance, and make informed financial decisions with confidence.

PitchBook Translation Services Group:

Translation Services supports PitchBook through precise conversion and translation solutions. Translation Services handles conversion and translation projects, supports data operations for live translation queries, builds native keywords, creates accurate financial dictionaries for various languages to improve translation and conversion quality, and ensures the data accuracy across Public and Private global markets.

The Role:

The Equity Data team is looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, creative, and results-driven candidate with 1 to 2 years of Linguistic translation and interpretation experience who can handle translation and interpretation queries of multiple languages from data collection users on financial and other relevant data. The team's mandate is to be the experts in the field of translation, interpretation, and conversion of native language documents to English and to provide timely and accurate solutions. As an Associate Language Specialist in the Translation Services team, you will work with Process Specialists, Content Researchers, Content Specialists, Operation Team Leaders, Data Analysts, Quality Assurance Analysts, Conversion and Translation Team, and Client/third-party Stakeholders to enhance our collected Equity datasets. You will work in a global environment, collaborating with stakeholders in multiple regions.

Responsibilities:

• Aid in translating and collecting financial data for Non-English Markets traded in global financial markets using Morningstar collection systems and ensure data timelines, completeness, and accuracy to meet business goals.
• Leading Conversion and Translation Projects to improve the quality of translation irrespective of the language.
• Being flexible to provide translation support for any language based on business requirements.
• Perform data analysis to ensure required Equity data and methodologies are in place to drive the product.
• Build custom native-to-English dictionaries to facilitate data collection users to process the filings on a timely basis.
• Collaboration across teams and working in a global environment to closely work with quality assurance, products, and technical departments to resolve clients data issues timely and effectively.
• Actively discover and share ideas for improvement in work (including system, process, and collection methodology) and propose enhancement suggestions to further improve system functionality, process efficiency, and data quality.
• Be an SME with strong foundational knowledge of basic finance and accounting concepts such as Assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, expenses, accounting principles like GAAP or IFRS, financial ratios, and analysis.
• Basic knowledge of financial statements and their terminologies in financial markets. Understanding the interconnections between financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement) and their related notes.
• Knowledge of the supplementary disclosures in financial notes, which provide context to the numbers in the statements (e.g., accounting policies, contingent liabilities, or risk assessments).
• Serve as an equity data expert for companies listed on global exchanges and demonstrate excellent analysis and judgment skills for obtaining solutions on framing methodologies and resolving collection issues.
• Passion for data and its impact on decision-making.
• Effectively organize meetings with different stakeholders from time to time.
• Manage different projects at the same time and share frequent updates.
• Ensure to maintain all reports intact from time to time.
• Communicate any questions, issues, or recommendations with regards to process, workflow, technology, methodology, team morale, etc. to all stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in finance/business or Arts with an exceptional academic record.
• Fluency in Korean Language (Intermediate to Advanced Level). Basic knowledge in additional languages would be preferred.
• 2 to 4 years of professional work experience in the relevant field.
• Knowledge in identifying the difference between literal translation and financial translation.
• Knowledge in building custom translation dictionary tools and testing.
• Strong understanding of different industries, accounting principles, reporting formats, and data collection practices.
• Ability to effectively communicate with local and international teams.
• Proven experience in optimizing processes and handling translation-related projects.
• Eager and ready to work in a high-performance culture.
• Ability to take calls early or late at night once or twice a week.
• Excellent written and verbal communication & reporting skills.
• Knowledge of SQL and Excel will be an added advantage.
• Able to take the initiative and work without detailed guidance or supervision.
