Description
The Associate GIS Digitizer will be responsible for digitizing and updating geographic information using GIS software. This role involves creating and maintaining spatial databases, ensuring the accuracy of data, and supporting various mapping projects.
Responsibilities
- Digitizing and updating geographic data using GIS software
- Creating and maintaining spatial databases
- Conducting quality control checks on digitized data
- Collaborating with team members to support mapping projects
- Assisting in the preparation of maps and other visual representations of data
- Participating in field data collection as necessary
- Providing technical support and training to other team members as needed
Skills and Qualifications
- 1-6 years of experience in GIS or related field
- Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools
- Strong understanding of cartography and spatial data visualization
- Experience with data collection methods and techniques
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R for GIS applications
- Ability to work with large datasets and perform data analysis
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field
