Job Description

This role is part of Alcons Engineering, focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging, and materials across the business to deliver excellent outcomes. The Associate, General Engineering is responsible for applying technical expertise to analyze trends, design and optimize processes, resolve engineering challenges, lead projects, manage budgets, and coordinate contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply technical knowledge to perform tasks and support project goals effectively.
  • Analyze technology trends to design new processes or modify existing processes.
  • Evaluate and resolve issues related to manufacturing, design, quality, and material engineering.
  • Develop and implement test procedures.
  • Estimate project costs, plan and execute projects, and manage project and operational budgets.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors and vendors as required.
  • Establish engineering standards, processes, and budgetary controls.
  • Introduce new or modified equipment, tools, software, and systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine engineering feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Follow decision-making procedures requiring job-related training and attention to detail.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Practice (GxP) regulations by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining accurate documentation, performing rigorous quality control, and completing all required training.
  • Commit to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance across all assigned tasks.

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
  • 2-4 years of experience in engineering roles.
  • Experience in leading, managing, or performing work across multiple engineering areas or specializations.
  • Ability to review technical documents, summarize data, and analyze testing outcomes.
  • Experience modifying, optimizing, and improving existing processes.
  • Capability to evaluate and resolve engineering issues in manufacturing, design, quality, and materials.
  • Experience in developing test procedures.
  • Competence in estimating project costs, planning and executing projects, and managing project budgets.
