Job Description

Position: Associate Director of Indian Communications and Marketing

Openings: 1

Location: based primarily in India (preference for Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata), remote

Pay: 25-35 Lakh Rupees per Annum, based on experience

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, South Asian Studies, or a related field AND three (3) years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations;

OR

  • Master's degree in a related field AND three (3) years of experience in a related role

OR

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Preferred Skills:

Demonstrated understanding of Indian culture, media, social media and higher education landscape.

Experience working in or with Indian institutions, global education providers, or South Asian diaspora communities and U.S. higher education institutions.

Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues across time zones including flexibility regarding meeting attendance beyond normal business hours to ensure seamless collaboration.

Proven track record in developing successful international or cross-cultural marketing campaigns.

Proficiency in multiple platforms, including SEO, email marketing, social media, and digital advertising.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft messaging for global audiences.

Familiarity with Indian languages (e.g., Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, etc.) a plus.

Experience working in higher education or in global marketing settings preferred.

Ability to travel (25%) to different cities in India in support of initiatives and events

Duties:

Lead the development and execution of the University's marketing and communications strategies specific to India and Indian-origin audiences globally.

Create culturally resonant content across print, digital, video, and social media platforms to support student recruitment, alumni engagement, and international partnerships.

Ensure brand consistency and cultural sensitivity across all India-related marketing initiatives.

Collaborate with key university stakeholders including Enrollment Services, the International Students and Scholars Center and academic colleges to align messaging with institutional goals.

Coordinate marketing campaigns for the University programs and events in India, including student fairs, alumni gatherings, academic exchanges, and research partnerships.

Build and manage relationships with media outlets, advertising vendors, and communications professionals in India.

Supervise communications staff, vendors, and/or student workers to produce high-quality marketing materials and campaigns.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of communications and make data-informed adjustments.

Act as a subject matter expert and internal advisor on India-related communications strategy, cultural norms, and audience expectations.

Represent the University at India-based events and assist with communications (including livestreams) during delegations or visits from Indian partners.

Job Description:

We are seeking an Associate Director of Indian Communications and Marketing to lead strategic communications and branding efforts for prospective students in India and the Indian diaspora. This position plays a central role in advancing global presence, supporting recruitment and partnership initiatives in India, and engaging with Indian communities both domestically and internationally.

Reporting to the Director of International Communications and Marketing of Academic Enterprise Communications, the associate director will develop and execute culturally attuned marketing strategies to promote programs, partnerships, and impact in India.

This position supports the mission to be a global university, committed to inclusive excellence and innovative collaboration across borders.

Remote position based in India with occasional travel to major metro cities in India.
