Job Description : Director / Associate Director - Core Banking Product and Technology Lead
Summary:
A highly experienced Core Banking Product and Technology Lead with deep expertise in building, managing, and evolving core banking platforms. Skilled at driving product strategy, architecture, development, and transformation initiatives, while ensuring high availability, security, and scalability to support business growth. Combines a strong understanding of financial services, regulatory compliance, and emerging technologies like cloud-native platforms, API banking, and digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle management for the Core Banking System (CBS), including product strategy, roadmap definition, architecture, development, and enhancements.
- Partner with business, operations, compliance, and risk teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Architect and oversee the modernization of legacy core banking systems towards microservices, APIs, and cloud-based platforms.
- Drive integration with fintech ecosystems, payments, credit, and wealth platforms through secure and efficient APIs.
- Ensure robust security, data privacy, regulatory compliance (e.g., RBI guidelines, PCI DSS, GDPR), and business continuity standards.
- Lead cross-functional technology teams (product managers, developers, QA, DevOps) and vendor partnerships to deliver project goals.
- Innovate and recommend adoption of emerging technologies (blockchain, AI/ML for credit scoring, cloud-native banking) into the core stack.
- Manage system upgrades, patching, incident handling, and overall performance monitoring.
- Maintain strong governance and agile best practices across product development and deployment cycles.
- Act as a key technology advisor to C-level leadership for banking innovation initiatives.
Key Skills:
- Expertise in Core Banking Platforms (e.g., TCS BaNCS, Infosys Finacle, Temenos T24, Oracle FLEXCUBE, etc.)
- Banking domain knowledge: Retail banking, corporate banking, payments, deposits, lending, KYC/AML
- Product management and agile methodology
- System architecture, API architecture, and microservices
- Cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP) for banking systems
- Database systems (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and data management
- Regulatory knowledge RBI, SEBI, GDPR, PCI DSS
- DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Vendor and partner management
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
Experience:
- 1015+ years of experience in banking technology, with at least 5 years in a lead role overseeing Core Banking solutions.
- Hands-on experience managing large-scale CBS transformations, migrations, or greenfield bank builds.
- Background in both product design and technology delivery, preferably across Tier 1/Tier 2 banks or large fintechs.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields (mandatory).
- MBA / Certifications in Banking Technology, Cloud Architecture, or Product Management
