Role Overview

We are seeking a Product Owner - Controls & Compliance (Band 30) to lead & support execution of critical control, audit, and compliance activities for our case management platform. This is a hands-on role responsible for working with Business, Ops, Technology, and Control Management teams to drive issue remediation, document controls, support risk events, perform functional analysis, and ensure compliance across application workflows.

The role also supports user story writing, backlog management, and execution for compliance-driven product work.

Key Responsibilities

1. Risk, Compliance & Control Execution (70-80%)

. Lead & Support management of risk events, issues, and audit findings.

. Assist in conducting root cause analysis with Business, Ops, Tech, and Controls.

. Document, track, and follow up on remediation plans and control enhancements.

. Identify & document application level controls - PRSA controls, SOPs, evidence logs, and compliance artifacts.

. Lead & support thematic reviews to identify systemic control gaps and propose structural mitigations.

. Support large compliance programs such as:

o Retention cleanup and governance

o Case aging remediation and SLA/non-compliance reporting improvements

o Data governance, data validation, and record integrity

. Partner with Tech, Ops, and Control teams to determine and validate fixes, test controls, put prevention measures, and ensure compliance expectations are met.

. Ensure timely closure and transparent reporting of issues to leadership.

2. Product Ownership & Delivery (20-30%)

. Support roadmap planning, prioritization, and intake of business rules and enhancements.

. Size, prioritize, and forecast business demand,

. Tracking track financial burn against funding allocation, Support PM & central PMO to manage portfolio reporting, capacity planning, and scope control.

. Gather detailed requirements and write user stories with acceptance criteria for compliance-related delivery.

. Support backlog refinement, sprint execution, and UAT for control-driven initiatives.

. Validate production deployments, ensuring fixes and control enhancements work as intended.

. Coordinate with Product Manager for prioritization, risk communication, and delivery alignment.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

. Partner with Ops, Business, Tech, Reporting/MIS, and Control Management teams to align on requirements, data needs, and remediation expectations.

. Provide clear status updates on issues, risks, and remediation progress.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

. Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Risk, Audit, or related field.

Experience

. 4-8 years in control/compliance roles, risk management, business analysis, or product ownership.

. Experience managing audit issues, risk events, or control remediation.

. Exposure to Agile, user story writing, UAT, and sprint execution preferred.

. Prior experience in servicing, workflow, or case management platforms is a plus.

Skills

. Strong analytical and documentation skills.

. Strong communication and stakeholder coordination.

. Ability to work in high-volume, compliance-heavy environments.
