Associate, Azure Cloud & Microsoft 365 Administration (Cloud & Workplace Technology)
Position Overview
The Associate, Azure Cloud & Microsoft 365 Administration is a hands-on cloud operations role responsible for administering and supporting Room to Read's Azure cloud, Microsoft 365, and endpoint management platforms.
Cloud is a major part of this role. The Associate manages Azure-based identity, access, monitoring, and governance while ensuring Microsoft 365, Intune, and virtual desktop environments are stable, secure, and easy for staff to use across a global organization.
This role focuses on cloud administration and operational excellence, rather than cloud architecture, DevOps, or security operations. It is well suited for someone who enjoys owning systems day to day, supporting users, and continuously improving how cloud platforms enable productive work.
Responsibilities
Azure Cloud Administration & Governance
- Administer Azure subscriptions and core cloud services, with emphasis on operational stability and governance
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID, role-based access control (RBAC), Conditional Access, and privileged access
- Monitor cloud usage, availability, and performance; support basic cost awareness and optimization
- Support Azure-based services such as Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) or similar environments
- Maintain documentation related to cloud access, governance standards, and controls
Microsoft 365 & Identity Platforms
- Administer Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Entra ID
- Manage users, groups, licenses, permissions, and access models
- Support collaboration tools and ensure reliable access to email, files, and shared content
- Apply governance practices for permissions, access structures, and information lifecycle management
Endpoint & Device Management (Intune)
- Administer Microsoft Intune for device enrollment, compliance, and lifecycle management
- Support Windows Autopilot and zero-touch provisioning where applicable
- Apply compliance policies, configuration profiles, security baselines, application deployments, and patching
- Ensure only compliant, managed devices can access organizational systems
Support, Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Provide Level 2/3 technical support, diagnose and resolve cloud, device, and collaboration platform issues, and meet defined SLAs.
- Create and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and configuration documentation
- Collaborate with global colleagues to standardize environments and reduce manual work
- Support small cloud-based automation or improvement initiatives over time
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 35+ years of hands-on experience in Azure and Microsoft 365 administration
- Practical experience with: Azure administration (subscriptions, identity, RBAC, monitoring); Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Entra ID); Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager and device lifecycle management; Providing Tier II / Tier III support in a multi-user or global environment
- Strong documentation habits and operational discipline
- Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken), with the ability to communicate clearly with global stakeholders in meetings and written communications
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and time zones
Nice to Have
- Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) or Windows 365
- Exposure to automation tools or scripting
- Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, MS-102, or MD-102
