About the Organization
Impact Investor Council (IIC) is the industry body for developing the impact investing ecosystem in India. It's a member-based organisation with key impact funds and other ecosystem builders as its members. The agenda for IIC is to focus on creating and curating programs, publications, advancing partnerships with the Domestic and International Investors, and Policy advocacy to build the narrative for Indian Impact investing. IIC is supported by most leading impact funds/foundations in the country, including Aavishkaar
Capital, Caspian, Michal and Susan Dell Foundation, Northern Arc, Omnivore, Lemelson Foundation and others. We have close to 65 members today, all directly or indirectly with an interest in the impact space.
IIC is a small team with presence across Mumbai, Bangalore, and Gurgaon. The teams have been split across four verticals - Publications, Programs, Partnerships and Policy. While we do have clearly allocated roles for all, our size keeps us flexible and entrepreneurial, and sometimes resources work across teams for the accomplishment of undergoing projects.
About the Role : The Associate / Assistant Manager - Programs will work closely with the Sr. Director - Programs to conceptualize, curate, and execute ecosystem-focused programs, convenings, workshops, and strategic initiatives that strengthen the impact investing ecosystem in India. The role sits at the intersection of ecosystem engagement, thematic research, stakeholder management, and program execution. The individual will be expected to build an understanding of emerging themes, sectoral priorities, investment trends, and ecosystem needs across themes such as impact investing, climate finance, blended finance, or across sectors such as financial inclusion, agriculture, healthcare, education (and related sectors). The role will involve translating these ecosystem insights into high-quality convenings, roundtables, workshops, webinars, training sessions, and flagship industry forums that bring together investors, philanthropic foundations, enterprises, policymakers, and ecosystem leaders.
This is an ideal role for someone who is intellectually curious about the intersection of finance and impact, enjoys engaging with diverse stakeholders, and is interested in building ecosystem-level conversations and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ecosystem Research & Program Curation
● Track emerging trends, sectoral developments, and investment opportunities across the impact investing , climate finance ecosystem, and other practice areas while building thematic understanding across impact/ climate sectors to support ecosystem-focused programs and convenings.
● Conduct ecosystem and stakeholder mapping to identify relevant investors, enterprises, ecosystem builders, philanthropic foundations, and practitioners for IIC initiatives.
● Support the development of thematic briefs, session notes, background materials, speaker notes, and discussion frameworks for workshops, roundtables, webinars, and convenings.
● Translate ecosystem insights and stakeholder perspectives into meaningful industry conversations and convening formats.
2. Program & Convening Development
● Conceptualize and curate workshops, webinars, roundtables, training sessions, and ecosystem convenings aligned with key developments in the impact investing landscape.
● Work closely with the Sr. Director - Programs on session curation, agenda development, speaker outreach, and thematic positioning for flagship convenings such as Prabhav and the India Green Investment Forum.
● Support the development of discussions and sessions that bring together investors, philanthropic foundations, entrepreneurs, DFIs, policymakers, CSR leaders, and ecosystem stakeholders.
● Contribute to the design of ecosystem-building initiatives and learning-oriented engagements for the broader impact investing community.
3. Program Execution & Stakeholder Management
● Support the end-to-end execution of programs, convenings, webinars, and strategic initiatives in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
● Coordinate with speakers, partners, participating organizations, and vendors to ensure smooth delivery of programs and events.
● Work collaboratively with internal teams including communications, partnerships, publications, and leadership teams for outreach and execution support.
● Support stakeholder communication, timeline management, and program coordination activities across multiple initiatives.
4. Content Development & Creative Support
● Develop presentations, event collaterals, concept notes, briefing documents, and communication materials for programs and ecosystem initiatives.
● Create visually engaging presentations and creatives using tools such as Canva in line with IIC brand guidelines.
● Work closely with the communications team to support outreach, engagement, and visibility for IIC programs and convenings.
Required Skills & Qualifications
● 1 to 4 years of experience with a strong interest or background in the Indian or international corporate sector, financial markets, sustainability, development sector, consulting, or related fields, combined with a high level of curiosity and strong learning orientation.
● We are also open to considering fresh graduates with exceptional academic credentials or a demonstrated interest in impact investing, climate, sustainability, or ecosystem-building initiatives.
● Strong intellectual curiosity and willingness to understand how finance, capital, and ecosystem collaboration can address social and climate challenges.
● Ability to build thematic understanding across sectors such as climate, agriculture,healthcare, education, financial inclusion, blended finance, and sustainable development.
● Strong research, analytical, and synthesis skills with the ability to translate ecosystem insights into meaningful discussions, programs, and convenings.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with senior stakeholders across the ecosystem.
● Strong working knowledge of Excel / Google Sheets, PowerPoint / Google Slides, and Canva.
● Ability to manage multiple workstreams, coordinate across stakeholders, and support end-to-end program execution.
● Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ownership mindset.
● Comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial, and collaborative environment.
Good to Have Skills & Qualifications
● Prior experience or exposure to the impact investing, development, sustainability, climate, or social enterprise ecosystem.
● Background in financial analysis, industry research, consulting, policy, or ecosystemfocused program management.
● Degree or academic background in finance, economics, business, public policy, sustainability, development studies, or related fields.
● Experience supporting convenings, stakeholder engagement initiatives, workshops, roundtables, or ecosystem-building programs.
● Existing networks or stakeholder familiarity within the impact investing, climate, or development ecosystem.
