Position Title: Assistant Professor – Information Systems & Analytics
Reporting To: Dean / Head of Department
Location: IMI Bhubaneswar
Position Summary
The Assistant Professor – Information Systems & Analytics is responsible for teaching, research, academic administration, student mentoring, and industry engagement in the areas of Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Database Management, Enterprise Systems, and related disciplines. The incumbent will contribute to the institution's academic excellence through high-quality teaching, scholarly research, curriculum development, and service activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning
- Deliver undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education courses in Information Systems and Analytics.
- Teach subjects such as:
- Management Information Systems (MIS)
- Business Analytics
- Data Analytics & Visualization
- Database Management Systems
- Business Intelligence
- Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
- Enterprise Systems (ERP/SAP)
- Python, SQL, R, and related technologies
- Develop course plans, teaching materials, case studies, and assessments.
- Utilize innovative and technology-enabled pedagogies to enhance student learning.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
2. Research & Scholarly Activities
- Conduct high-quality research in Information Systems, Analytics, Data Science, AI, Digital Transformation, or related areas.
- Publish research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals.
- Present research findings at national and international conferences.
- Pursue funded research projects, consultancy assignments, and collaborative research opportunities.
- Contribute to the academic reputation and rankings of the institution.
3. Curriculum Development & Academic Administration
- Design and update curriculum in line with industry and academic trends.
- Develop new electives, certifications, and industry-oriented courses.
- Participate in accreditation, quality assurance, and assurance-of-learning processes.
- Contribute to examination, assessment, and academic governance activities.
- Assist in academic planning and departmental initiatives.
4. Student Mentoring & Development
- Mentor students on academic, research, and career-related matters.
- Guide student projects, internships, dissertations, and capstone assignments.
- Support placement readiness through industry-oriented projects and skill development initiatives.
- Supervise student research and innovation activities.
5. Industry Engagement & Institutional Service
- Build relationships with industry partners for projects, internships, guest lectures, and placements.
- Organize workshops, seminars, conferences, and faculty development programs.
- Participate in departmental, institutional, and professional service activities.
- Contribute to admissions, outreach, branding, and accreditation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- NET/SET qualification as applicable under regulatory norms.
- Strong academic background with demonstrated research capability.
- Proficiency in analytics tools and technologies such as Python, SQL, R, Power BI, Tableau, ERP/SAP, and Machine Learning platforms.
- Excellent teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
