Role Purpose

The role is responsible for ensuring uptime and complete availability of Turbine Data Lake , IBM Data Stage ETL tools in alignment with the project scopes and requirements.

Role Accountability

  1. Deploy a hadoop cluster, maintain a hadoop cluster, add and remove nodes using cluster monitoring tools like Cloudera Manager, configuring the NameNode high availability and keeping a track of all the running hadoop jobs
  2. Implement, manage and administer the overall hadoop infrastructure including HDFS, Hive, Pig, Parquet, Kudu, Impala, Oozie, Hue etc.
  3. Implement, manage and administer data loads using IBM Data Stage ETL tool, Apache Kafka & Apache Sqoop
  4. Manage the day-to-day running of Cloudera Hadoop clusters
  5. Managethe IBM DataStage health and monitors daily ETL jobs running in it
  6. Work closely with the database team, network team, BI team and application teams to make sure that all the big data applications are highly available and performing as expected.
  7. Manually setup all the configurations while working on open source Apache Distributions- Core-Site, HDFS-Site, YARN-Site and Map Reduce-Site
  8. Participate in capacity planning and estimate the requirements for lowering or increasing the capacity of the hadoop cluster
  9. Decide the size of the hadoop cluster based on the data to be stored in HDFS
  10. Monitor the cluster connectivity and performance
  11. Manage and review Hadoop log files
  12. Devise disaster recovery and primary data center site maintenance plans with respect to Hadoop and DataStage administration
  13. Maintain all process documentation practices in compliance with the process guidelines

  2. Resource availability for Jobs
  3. Data recency in data lake
  4. API availability
  5. Entire cluster/API monitoring
  6. Timely and accurate updation of process documentation
  7. Process Adherence as per MOU

Technical Skills / Experience / Certifications

  1. Excellent knowledge of Hadoop Environment Administration, UNIX/LINUX OS
  2. Knowledge of cluster monitoring tools like Cloudera Manager
  3. Knowledge of OS concepts, process management and resource scheduling
  4. Knowledge of networking, CPU, memory and storage
  5. Experience of UNIX/Linux commands and shell scripting
  6. Knowledge of Monitoring Tools and Log Management Tools
