We are seeking an experienced and customer-centric professional to join our team as the Assistant Vice President - Operations. In this role, you will oversee and guide the Trade Operations-Imports department, ensuring the delivery of exceptional services to our commercial customers. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, providing valuable advice on trade finance activities, and implementing effective controls to mitigate risks.
- Provide expert advice and consultation to commercial customers on a range of trade finance services, including export finance, payments, and document checking.
- Support the Product Development Team with insights and guidance on trade finance activities, ensuring compliance with international practices and regulations.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the bank, promoting collaboration and a unified approach.
- Ensure a deep understanding of VAT regulations and UAE-specific requirements, integrating them into our trade operations processes.
- Develop and implement robust procedures that align with the bank's policies and guidelines, identifying and addressing any process gaps proactively.
- Lead a customer-centric initiative to reduce referrals and improve turnaround times for our valued customers.
- Oversee the reconciliation of Trade Nostros and Sundries, ensuring accurate and timely financial records.
- Manage and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring a successful and compliant outcome.
- Review and address customer complaints promptly, taking necessary actions to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Monitor and ensure the timely achievement of MBOs (Management by Objectives) for the Trade Operations-Imports department.
- A bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field, with a strong preference for a master's degree in a relevant discipline.
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in trade finance operations, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of international trade practices, including ICC publications, OPM, APPM, and local regulations.
- Strong understanding of VAT and UAE regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance in all trade operations.
- Excellent knowledge of trade sanctions and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations, with the ability to perform due diligence checks.
- Proficiency in commodity trade operations and the handling of relevant documents.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities, identifying process gaps and implementing effective controls.
- Ability to work independently and manage a team, fostering a collaborative and customer-centric work environment.
- Proficiency in relevant software and systems used in trade finance operations, with a willingness to adapt to new technologies.
