Assistant Surgeon

Reporting To: Consultant Surgeon / Medical Director

The Assistant Surgeon will support the Consultant Surgeon in providing high-quality surgical care, ensuring patient safety, adherence to clinical protocols, and continuity of care across pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.

• Assist the Consultant Surgeon during minor and major surgical procedures as per scope of practice.
• Prepare patients for surgery including pre-operative assessments, documentation, and consent coordination.
• Monitor patients during procedures and assist in maintaining aseptic techniques and OT protocols.
• Support post-operative care, including wound care, pain management, and recovery monitoring.

• Conduct pre- and post-surgical patient counselling to explain procedures, recovery expectations, and follow-up care.
• Address patient queries empathetically and ensure a positive patient experience.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in patient records.

• Ensure compliance with clinic protocols, NABH standards (if applicable), and statutory medical guidelines.
• Coordinate with nursing staff, OT technicians, anesthetists, and front-office teams for smooth surgical operations.
• Assist in inventory checks for surgical instruments, consumables, and medicines.

• Follow infection control, biomedical waste management, and patient safety guidelines strictly.
• Report and document any adverse events, complications, or deviations from protocol.
• Participate in clinical audits, case discussions, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

• Mandatory:
• BAMS + MS (Ayurveda Surgery) OR
• BHMS + MS (Homeopathy Surgery)
• Registration with relevant state medical council.

• 13 years of hands-on clinical or surgical assistance experience preferred.
• Fresh MS graduates with strong clinical exposure may also be considered.

• Sound knowledge of surgical procedures and patient care protocols.
• Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail.
• Excellent patient communication and counselling skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• High standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism.
