Role Description : This is a full-time, on-site Assistant Professor – Product Design role based at Sanjay Ghodawat university Kolhapur. The role involves delivering engaging lectures, studio classes, and workshops in product design, including foundational design principles, materials and processes, design thinking, and user-centered design. The Assistant Professor will develop and update course syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and project briefs aligned with academic standards and industry trends. Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding students through concept development, prototyping, and portfolio building, offering regular feedback and academic mentoring. The role also includes evaluating student work, maintaining academic records, participating in curriculum development, collaborating with colleagues on academic initiatives, and supporting events such as exhibitions, juries, reviews, and industry interactions.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in product design, including design principles, form and function, ergonomics, and user-centered design methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with materials, manufacturing processes, model making, and prototyping (physical and/or digital).
- Proficiency with design and visualization tools (e.g., CAD software, 3D modeling, rendering tools, and basic presentation software).
- Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and critique student work in a constructive, inclusive, and supportive manner.
- Experience in curriculum planning, lesson design, and assessment strategies for design education.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex design concepts clearly to diverse learners.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, industry partners, and academic leadership.
- Master's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution (exceptional candidates with a bachelor's degree and strong industry/teaching experience may be considered).
- Prior teaching experience in higher education or formal training environments is preferred; industry experience in product or industrial design is an added advantage.
