About the Role
The Assistant Professor of Sociology will be responsible for teaching, research, academic leadership, and service activities in the discipline of Political Science. The role involves delivering high-quality instruction, conducting impactful research, mentoring students and faculty, and contributing to the academic growth and reputation of the university.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum Development:
- Deliver lectures, conduct seminars, and manage laboratory sessions for students.
- Develop course materials, curricula, and innovative teaching methods.
- Assess student performance through exams, assignments, and presentations.
Research and Scholarly Activity:
- Conduct original research and publish findings in peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Apply for research grants and secure funding.
- Present research papers at conferences and seminars.
Mentorship and Student Support:
- Mentor, advise, and counsel students on academic progress and career development.
- Supervise student projects, theses, and practical training.
Service and Administration:
- Participate in departmental and university committees (e.g., hiring, policy development).
- Participate in examination duties, including paper setting and invigilation.
- Contribute to departmental administration and organization of events.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Social Work/ Sociology discipline from a recognized university
- A distinguished academic record with minimum experience of 4 years
- Strong record of research publications in reputed journals
- Experience in teaching at postgraduate and doctoral levels
- Experience with NGO and related field work.
Required Skills
- Strong subject knowledge in Social Work/ Sociology or related areas
