About the Role

The Assistant Professor of Sociology will be responsible for teaching, research, academic leadership, and service activities in the discipline of Political Science. The role involves delivering high-quality instruction, conducting impactful research, mentoring students and faculty, and contributing to the academic growth and reputation of the university.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Teaching and Curriculum Development:

  • Deliver lectures, conduct seminars, and manage laboratory sessions for students.
  • Develop course materials, curricula, and innovative teaching methods.
  • Assess student performance through exams, assignments, and presentations.

Research and Scholarly Activity:

  • Conduct original research and publish findings in peer-reviewed academic journals.
  • Apply for research grants and secure funding.
  • Present research papers at conferences and seminars.

Mentorship and Student Support:

  • Mentor, advise, and counsel students on academic progress and career development.
  • Supervise student projects, theses, and practical training.

Service and Administration:

  • Participate in departmental and university committees (e.g., hiring, policy development).
  • Participate in examination duties, including paper setting and invigilation.
  • Contribute to departmental administration and organization of events.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Social Work/ Sociology discipline from a recognized university
  • A distinguished academic record with minimum experience of 4 years
  • Strong record of research publications in reputed journals
  • Experience in teaching at postgraduate and doctoral levels
  • Experience with NGO and related field work.

Required Skills

  • Strong subject knowledge in Social Work/ Sociology or related areas
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Research orientation and grant-writing capability
  • Leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
