Position: Assistant Professor Physics (AI & Emerging Technologies Focus)
School: School of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar University.
Role Summary:
The Assistant Professor Physics will deliver and support Physics education aligned with Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, and emerging computational technologies for engineering programs. The role emphasizes interdisciplinary teaching, AIenabled curriculum delivery, and applied research supporting nextgeneration engineering education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Physics courses integrated with AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Computational Modeling, and Engineering Applications.
- Design and deliver AIaugmented Physics curriculum, including simulations, datadriven experiments, and computational labs.
- Integrate Python, MATLAB, numerical methods, and basic ML algorithms into Physics teaching and laboratory work.
- Develop outcomebased course content aligned with industryrelevant AI and technology trends.
- Guide student projects involving AI applications in Physics, such as signal processing, smart sensors, robotics, materials modeling, or simulations.
- Engage in interdisciplinary research in AI, computational sciences, smart systems, or applied physics, leading to publications and funded projects.
- Mentor students in research, innovation, startups, and technical competitions.
- Participate in curriculum development, accreditation processes (NBA/NAAC), and academic governance.
- Actively contribute to faculty development programs, workshops, FDPs, and industry collaboration initiatives.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- PHD in Physics / Applied Physics / Computational Physics or related discipline with First Class or equivalent from IIT or IISc is a plus.
- Ph.D. in Physics or allied interdisciplinary area with relevance to AI, data science, or computational methods (mandatory).
- NET / SET qualification as applicable under UGC regulations.
- Prior teaching, research, or applied experience in AIenabled or computational teaching is desirable.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong foundation in Engineering Physics and Applied Mathematics.
- Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts, data analysis, and computational tools.
- Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages for academic applications.
- Ability to adopt innovative pedagogy, blended learning, and digital teaching platforms.
- Research orientation with interdisciplinary publication potential.
- Excellent communication, mentoring, and collaborative skills.
