Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for an Assistant Professor of Physics at Amity University Ranchi, located in the Kolkata metropolitan area. The Assistant Professor will teach undergraduate and postgraduate physics courses, design and deliver lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions, and develop innovative, student-centered learning materials. The role includes guiding students in projects and dissertations, mentoring them on academic and career pathways, and maintaining fair, transparent assessment and grading practices. The faculty member will be expected to conduct and publish research in relevant areas of physics, contribute to curriculum development, participate in departmental and university committees, and support outreach, workshops, and academic events. Collaboration with colleagues across disciplines and active engagement in continuous professional development are integral to this position.
Qualifications
- Ph. D in Physics.
- Strong subject knowledge and teaching competence in core Physics, including classical and modern physics, with the ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Expertise in Theoretical Physics and related areas, with a demonstrated ability to engage in high-quality research and scholarly publications.
- Ability to integrate Physics Education best practices into teaching, including active learning methods, assessment design, and use of educational technology.
- Proficiency in Mathematics relevant to physics, including advanced calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations, to support rigorous theoretical instruction.
- Desirable exposure to Astronomy or related fields, with the ability to supervise student projects or electives in these areas.
- Evidence of research potential or established research profile, including peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, or funded projects.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a commitment to inclusive, gender-neutral, and learner-centered teaching.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic environment and contribute to departmental administration and institutional initiatives.
