Job Description

Role Description The Assistant Professor of Law will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality lectures, tutorials, and seminars in core legal subjects, including Constitutional Law and Criminal Law, to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The role includes developing syllabi, preparing course materials, evaluating student performance, and providing academic mentoring and guidance. The Assistant Professor will conduct independent and collaborative legal research, publish in reputed journals, and contribute to academic conferences and workshops. Responsibilities also include participation in departmental activities, curriculum development, and university initiatives that promote academic excellence and holistic student development. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Kolkata metropolitan area.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Law
  • Strong foundation in Law with expertise in areas such as Constitutional Law and Criminal Law.
  • Demonstrated ability in academic Research, including designing studies, publishing scholarly work, and engaging with current legal scholarship.
  • Proven Teaching skills, including lesson planning, student assessment, and use of innovative, learner-centered pedagogical methods.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, academic integrity, and fostering an inclusive, respectful learning environment.
  • Experience with curriculum development, academic administration, or prior university-level teaching is an advantage.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, participate in institutional initiatives, and engage with industry, legal practitioners, and the wider community.
