Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic & Institutional Leadership
· Provide strategic leadership for the development and growth of NAMTECH's Semiconductor vertical.
· Define the academic vision, program strategy, and long-term roadmap for Semiconductor education and technology.
· Lead the design, development, launch, and continuous enhancement of semiconductor-focused academic programs.
· Establish academic standards benchmarked against leading global universities and industry practices.
· Mentor and develop faculty and future academic leaders.
· Build an academic culture focused on excellence, innovation, interdisciplinarity, and industry relevance.
2. Curriculum & Program Development
Lead curriculum development across areas including:
· Semiconductor Device Physics & Engineering
· Microelectronics & VLSI
· IC Design, Verification & EDA
· Digital, Analog & Mixed-Signal Design
· Semiconductor Manufacturing & Process Technology
· Wafer Fabrication & Process Integration
· Lithography, Deposition, Etching & CMP
· Semiconductor Materials & Advanced Materials
· Compound & Wide-Bandgap Semiconductors
· Power Semiconductor Technologies
· Advanced Semiconductor Packaging
· Assembly, Testing & Reliability
· MEMS & Sensors

· AI/ML for Semiconductor Design & Manufacturing

3. Research, Innovation & Technology Development
· Establish a high-impact, industry-relevant semiconductor research agenda.
· Develop interdisciplinary research programs across semiconductor engineering, electronics, materials, manufacturing, AI, automation, and advanced manufacturing.
· Build industry-sponsored and government-funded research programs.
· Promote high-quality publications, patents, prototypes, technology development, and technology transfer.
· Establish national and international research collaborations.
· Translate research into industry applications, demonstrators, prototypes, and deployable technologies.
4. Funding, Grants & Ecosystem Development
A critical responsibility of the role will be to mobilise significant external funding and strategic investments for the Semiconductor vertical.
· Develop and execute a long-term funding and resource mobilisation strategy for semiconductor education, research, laboratories, technology development, and innovation.
· Secure large-scale government grants, sponsored research, industry funding, CSR support, strategic partnerships, and international funding.
· Identify and pursue funding opportunities through national semiconductor, electronics, advanced manufacturing, research, and innovation programmes.
· Build relationships with government agencies, semiconductor companies, technology organisations, research institutions, investors, foundations, and other strategic stakeholders.
· Lead the development of large-scale, multi-institutional and industry-sponsored research and technology-development programmes.
· Build a sustainable funding ecosystem supporting faculty research, advanced laboratories, student projects, innovation, and technology translation.
· Develop strategic proposals and partnerships capable of attracting significant long-term investment into NAMTECH's Semiconductor ecosystem.
5. Industry Engagement
· Build strategic partnerships with semiconductor fabs, fabless companies, OSAT/ATMP organisations, EDA companies, equipment manufacturers, electronics companies, and technology organisations.
· Develop industry-sponsored projects, internships, apprenticeships, live projects, executive education, and joint research programs.
· Establish and lead an industry advisory board for the Semiconductor program.
· Represent NAMTECH at national and international semiconductor and technology forums.
· Develop strategic partnerships that strengthen student outcomes, research, technology development, and institutional visibility.
6. Faculty & Talent Development
· Build a world-class, interdisciplinary semiconductor faculty and technical team.
· Attract distinguished professors, researchers, industry experts, and Professors of Practice.
· Develop faculty research and industry engagement capabilities.
· Create pathways for faculty collaboration with leading semiconductor companies and research institutions.
· Build a strong academic culture focused on excellence, innovation, and industry relevance.
7. Laboratory & Infrastructure Development
· Provide leadership for establishing state-of-the-art semiconductor laboratories and technology infrastructure.
· Define requirements for VLSI, electronics, semiconductor processing, materials, packaging, testing, simulation, and manufacturing laboratories.
· Guide technology selection, equipment planning, infrastructure development, and laboratory utilisation.
· Develop industry-grade experiential learning environments.
· Establish laboratory capabilities aligned with emerging semiconductor technologies and industry requirements.
8. Student & Industry Outcomes
· Develop industry-embedded learning and experiential education models.
· Establish strong pathways for internships, apprenticeships, industry projects, and placements.
· Develop semiconductor talent across design, fabrication, packaging, testing, equipment, manufacturing, and technology management.
· Build strong industry participation in student learning and assessment.
· Track and continuously improve student learning, employability, research, innovation, and industry outcomes.

Program Director / Director
Ph.D. in a relevant discipline or equivalent relevant professional/technology experience
Minimum 20 years of teaching, research and/or industry experience, including substantial senior academic/technology leadership experience; typically including 5+ years at Professor or equivalent level.
Preferred Profile
· Distinguished Professor / HAG / HAG+ or equivalent senior academic leadership profile.
· Strong academic, research, or technology leadership credentials in semiconductor, microelectronics, VLSI, electronics, electrical engineering, materials, or related disciplines.
· Experience as Dean, Head of Department, Director of Centre, Institute/Program Head, or equivalent academic/technology leadership position is highly desirable.
· Strong record of research publications, patents, sponsored research, technology development, or industry projects.
· Demonstrated success in securing substantial government, industry, institutional, or international research funding is strongly preferred.
· Experience in establishing or leading academic programs, research centres, laboratories, or technology initiatives.
· Strong industry and international academic collaborations.
· Ability to attract and build high-quality faculty and research teams.
· Strong understanding of the Indian and global semiconductor ecosystem.
· Excellent academic leadership, stakeholder management, mentoring, fundraising, partnership development, and institution-building capabilities.
